Vacation to amazing South Africa to see beautiful animals like white lions and bungee jump off of the Bloukrans bridge w/ friends! Subscribe to Talltanic http://goo.gl/wgfvrr 10. African Penguin In addition to the white lion, South Africa is home to a breed of penguin that is expected to be extinct in 15 years unfortunately. Due to South Africa’s relatively close distance to Antarctica, these birds have migrated and enjoyed the adaptation to beach life conditions like we see in this photo. These birds go fishing for anchovies and known to eat squid and small crustaceans as well. This penguins are often targets of vicious predators of the diverse South African Oceans. They’re often eaten by orcas, sharks and large seals. They then have to deal with land-based predation as well like mongooses, genets and caracals. Some scientists believe that since their main food source of anchovies has been extensively fished, they’ve had trouble finding nutritious food sources. Hopefully we’ll find away to keep these unique creatures alive. 9. The Palace of The Lost City If you thought resorts in Las Vegas were good, try checking out the Palace of the Lost City. It’s a rather remarkable feat of architecture and features custom built botanical jungles. With lavish pools, lakes and hotel rooms, it would make for an excellent place to stay on vacation, located northwest of Pretoria. Safaris are rightfully on the list for most people who stay here. 8. South African Bungee Jumping With South Africa’s unique landscapes, it makes for a bungee jumping mecca for those who dare to take the plunge. It’s home to the highest bungi jump in the world at 710 feet. The Bloukrans Bridge is located near Port Elizabeth and is probably somewhere you don’t want to go if you’re afraid of heights. In this photo you can truly see how high the bridge is and this experience most likely won’t be forgotten anytime soon. 7. Shipwrecks There have been over 2000 shipwrecks on the coast of South Africa within the past 500 years. The Cape of Good Hope gets its name for the dangerous waters that sailors and explorers would try to get around. People would hope that people got past this stretch of water without any issues. As we can see in this photo, it's a beautiful piece of land but a risky one to get around. 6. Rovos Rail Considered to be the most luxurious trains to explore in Africa. Travellers can take a step back in time and travel like a royal safari enthusiast. They love landscapes that come with the experience as well as a luxury, a butler, all gourmet meals prepared on the train, and only the best wines grown in South Africa. 5. Meteor Strike South Africa possesses the oldest known crater and is now a UNESCO world heritage site. The Vredefort Dome is believed to 4 billion years old and is about 15-20 kilometers or 9-12 miles in diameter. Here in the photo you can see the vastness from this scar of the past. 4. South African Although South Africa is a beautiful country ,a recent trend of attacking farm workers have plagued the country unfortunately. An astonishing total of 361,015 murders took place between 1994 and 2012. The farm owners seem to think it is racially motivated although government believe the main motive is robbery. Many farmers have armed themselves heavily in order to protect themselves from becoming a statistic. Some have gathered in the streets, hoping to bring more awareness to the issue. 3. Nobel Peace Prize Winners South Africa is home to many progressive and influential figures. But this unique country had two nobel peace prize winners on the same street! Can you guess who they are? Nelson Mandela and Archbishop Desmond Tutu both had properties on Vilakazi street in Soweto. Here we see a photo of Nelson Mandela’s house which is now a museum. 2. Festivals South Africa is home to some of the wildest and colorful festivals. For example the South African Afrika “burn” Festival took place in Karoo in the middle of the desert like we see in this photo. It strikes an eery resemblance to the burning man festival in northern Nevada but with an African Twist. 7 days of this event might be too much if you can survive, this you can do just about anything. 1.Tape Mountain Tape mountain is believed to be the oldest remaining mountain in the world and has a richer biodiversity that some countries! With the 2285 species of plants on this mountain, it has more than the entire country of the United Kingdom

More information about the video content bellow: 1. The world’s largest visible crater is in South Africa. The Vredefort crater is the largest verified impact crater on Earth, more than 300 km across when it was formed. Around 2,030 million years ago a meteor the size of a mountain (about 10km across) fell to earth in South Africa’s Free State making a crater 300km across; it is the oldest crater made by either a comet or meteorite and reportedly the site of the largest energy release in history. 2. South Africa has three capital cities – Cape Town (Legislative), Pretoria (Administrative) and Bloemfontein (Judicial). 3. The Dutch and the British fought over South Africa. The first Europeans settlers were Dutch traders on the Europe-Far East spice route who founded Cape Colony (now Cape Town) in 1652. The British seized Cape Colony in 1795 and a few years later the Dutch farmers (boers) fled north to claim lands and establish the Orange Free State and the Transvaal. This is why Afrikaans, a language resembling Dutch, is one of the official languages of South Africa. 4. For nearly 50 years, there was a state of apartheid – white minority rule – in South Africa. When the Afrikaaner Nationalist Party came to power in 1948 their policy of apartheid (separateness) segregated blacks and whites, forced hundreds of thousands of people to resettle in black ‘homelands’, and imprisoned, killed or sent opponents into exile. The African National Congress fought against apartheid initially through civil disobedience but after the 1960 Sharpeville massacre (when police killed 70 protesters), it formed a military wing under Nelson Mandela. 5. South Africa is the only country in the world to build and then decide to dismantle the whole of its nuclear weapons program. Former president Frederik Willem de Klerk said South Africa had built six crude atomic bombs and had started a seventh during a 15-year clandestine project, when it decided to voluntarily dismantle its arsenal in 1989. 6. The Bloukrans Bridge, Western Cape, is the highest commercial natural bungee jump in the world. The 216m jump off the Bloukrans Bridge, Africa’s highest bridge, falls over the Bloukrans river valley. 7. It’s been estimated there are around 3,000 shipwrecks off the coast of South Africa. The 3,000km of coastline, including the infamous Cape of Good Hope and the coastline of the Eastern Cape, have been claiming seafaring victims for centuries. All shipwrecks are now protected under South African law. Subscribe for weekly wacky videos and learn interesting facts about the world with awesome top 10 lists and other amazing videos. #7 The Non-Extinct “Extinct” Fish, the Coelacanth This menacing-looking fish has quite a history. Thought to be extinct with the dinosaurs at the end of the Cretaceous period, the fish was discovered very much alive in 1938 when a fisherman caught one off the coast of East Africa. Even more shocking was the fact that another species of the Coelacanth was caught in the Indian Ocean by a fisherman and offered up for sale at a fish market in July 1998, letting scientists know that there are more species of this “extinct” fish than previously thought! The fish was 5ft long and weighed 29kg. #6 The Metal Balls of the Atlantic Ocean Scientists who were in the Atlantic Ocean to study sea organisms found something a bit more unusual than they expected when their equipment kept getting snagged on something. They unearthed metal balls, known as manganese balls. These balls occur in other oceans, growing at the rate of millimeters over the course a million years by crystallizing around rocks or fossils into a nodule. To see so many on the ocean floor, especially some so round, was quite a shock to researchers, who even put out a press release about the discovery. #5 The Baltic Sea Anomaly Scientists have been debating the true nature of a large, mushroom-shaped disc found under the Baltic Sea in June 2011. Sonar images of the object show a stone or granite disc that resembles an ancient Millennium Falcon! The 200 by 25 ft disc could be a Nazi device that was located on the Baltic Sea shipping route that was made of steel and wire mesh designed to block radar detection by British and Russian submarines that used the area during World War II. Explorers have been repeatedly stymied by the Baltic Sea Anomaly because their sonar, radar and even satellite phones stop working when they get within 200 meters of the site. UFOlogists see it differently; they believe the disc is an ancient alien aircraft. Yeah, but how many parsecs would it take to make the Kessel Run? #4 The Mayan Underworld The ancient Mayans believed that in order to make it to the afterlife, dead souls needed to traverse watery caves with the help of a blind dog, and that caves are natural portals to other worlds. In 2008, scientists discovered huge underwater caves off the Yucatan Peninsula. The caves are large enough to contain stone temples and pyramids, sculptures, and human remains, mirroring the Maya belief that souls would confront great challenges on the way to the next world. One eerie passage consists of a 300 foot road leading straight to the water. Now scientists must ponder whether the Mayan beliefs were inspired by the existence of the caves, or whether the Maya created the caves as part of their religious practices. #3 The Yeti Crab You may have seen a variety of crabs at a visit to the aquarium, but you’ve probably not seen a crab like this. Known as the Yeti Crab, this species was discovered in 2005 in the South Pacific Ocean. The crab’s discovery required scientists to actually create a new genus, Kiwaidae. This crab is special not only because it’s hairy, but also because it has no eyes. It grows its own food and bacteria in its fur and lives in hydrothermal vents. #2 The Galleon San Jose Built in 1696, the Spanish ship Galleon San Jose was lost in 1708, after crewmembers were engaged in a sea battle with the English. On November 27, 2015, the wreckage of the ship was found in the Caribbean Sea, along with its treasure. Originally on its way to France, the ship was laden with cargo of gold, silver and emeralds when it sank, and 600 people were reportedly on board when the ship went down. Many of the ship’s personal effects, cannons, and guns are still intact. Before the discovery, historians believed the ship had exploded. The recovered treasure is worth an estimated $3 to $17 billion. #1 The “Lost” Underwater Forest You may find a city or ruins, or sunken treasure in the sea, but finding a forest is probably a dream….But for diver Dawn Watson, finding a lost forest went from fantasy to reality. In 2015, Watson discovered an incredible underwater forest off the coast of Norfolk. The forest was once part of Doggerland, a piece of land that was a bridge between Britain and Europe.
