That’s why today, The Health Nerd is going to show you 17 Science Backed Ways to Relieve Stress Right Now! 1. Eat Something or chew gum. Science has shown that just chewing on something lowers stress. To avoid the calories, you can always just chew the sugar free gum. 2. Do yoga. It has been proven to lower resting cortisol levels and greatly reduce stress in its regular practitioners. Just 20 minutes of yoga will give you these effects. 3. Meditate. Just 5 minutes of concentrated deep breathing and meditation has been shown to both lower blood pressure and greatly reduce cortisol. There are plenty of free guided mediation apps for beginners that can be downloaded on your phone right now. 4. Walk away from the computer. Uninterrupted computer use has been associated with stress, lost sleep, and depression. Take frequent breaks throughout your day, and make sure to shut it off 1 hour before you fall asleep. 5. Try progressive muscle relaxation. All the way from the fingers to the toes, tense and then relax each muscle group in the body. This will help relieve tension and you’ll find that once the muscles are relaxed, the mind will soon follow. 9. TURN YOUR FREAKIN PHONE OFF. Just talking on the phone has been shown to raise blood pressure. Whenever you need a break, just turn your phone on airplane mode for an hour and put it out of sight. 10. Hop off Facebook for a week. Facebook has been proven to make us feel sadder and less satisfied. Studies have also shown that when people deactivate it, they feel happier and less worried. 11. Go for a 10-minute walk. Just walking around your neighborhood for 10 minutes will boost endorphins and reduce stress hormones. If you can, walk in a park or a place with nature for greater effects. 12. Use your nose There are plenty of studies that support aromatherapy as a good way to reduce stress. Nowadays, many people prefer to stick to periodical water fasting, so they don't consume any food and drink apart from water. Water fasting should last for no more than a couple of days, and you should consult with a doctor beforehand. We are all dreaming of a perfectly flat belly and back to be ready for the summer and rock the perfect beach body. You can achieve that goal with no dieting or workouts at the gym. Fortunately, there's one simple exercise that can help you bust back and belly fat in the blink of an eye, leaving you with gorgeous toned abs and a beautiful cinched-in waist. Doing the plank correctly is the key to giving your muscles a proper workout so that all your efforts will bring your desired results. Make sure you don’t arch your back, this will only put pressure on your spine and lead to all kinds of nasty back problems. Try to avoid lowering your hips towards the floor as well. It’ll decrease the effectiveness of the workout your muscles are receiving, basically making your training a waste of time. Finally, pay attention to your neck too, it's better to look down rather than up or straight ahead of you. It’ll take less than 5 minutes of your time a day for the next month. You’ll start with 25 seconds and step by step move towards 240 seconds. Working out all of these muscles gives you some amazing bonuses, improving your back and booty as well. Not to mention, according to the American Council on Exercise, planking regularly reduces back pain and significantly improves your posture. If you wanna get even better results, try to follow some rules of healthy eating as well. After all, you have to take care of your body on the inside if you want it to look nice on the outside too. On day 5, try to hold it for 40 seconds. As for day 6, you deserve a little rest. But not for long because your goal for days 7 and 8 is 50 seconds! Ways to improve memory with good habits 1. First way to improve memory with good habit is to get a good nights sleep. 8 hours of sleep per night will make your memory so much better. 2. Drinking plenty of water is an important part of having a focused brain and a good way to improve memory. It is often overlooked but it is so easy to do. 3. Exercise is one of the best ways to improve memory. It helps in direct and indirect ways. Directly because exercise reduces inflammation and stimulates growth of new blood cells. Indirectly it helps you sleep better and reduces stress. 4. Too much salt is harmful to your memory but too little salt is also harmful. A way to improve memory is to watch your salt intake. 5. Reducing your stress level is one of the best things that you can do to improve memory. For this ways to improve memory technique I will meditate and even get massages to relax. This helps my body and my brain. 6. The next way to improve memory is to avoid excessive sugar. 7. Excessive alcohol is terrible for memory in both the short term and the long term. 8. Alcohol in moderation has actually been shown to be helpful to the memory. 9. Another easy way to improve memory is to train your mind to think in pictures. Start seeing numbers for pictures (21 = deck of cards, 10 = fingers, etc). You also do the same with names. Create images for common names. Steve = stove, Lisa = Mona Lisa, etc. These are greats ways to improve memory. 10. The last tips for ways to improve memory is to use the Mind Palace. The irony is, a lot of times what we feel is rooted in the lower back is actually caused by muscles not in the back at all. In this video, I’m going to show you how the glute medius could be the real cause of your back pain and a quick exercise you can do to relieve your discomfort instantly. Once gone, I’m also going to show you a few additional exercises you can do to make sure your low back pain never returns. The gluteus medius is sandwiched between the glute maximus and minimus and lies in and around the hip area. The role of the muscle is to abduct your hip or lift your leg out to the side in either standing or side lying and to keep your pelvis level whenever you take a step. Prolonged sitting during the day as well as an unequal weight distribution when standing are two of the most common reasons for this muscle to get weak and imbalanced. You can quickly test to see if you have the makings of a weak glute medius by standing with your feet shoulder width apart and lifting one foot off the ground. First take note whether or not your opposite hip drops significantly. If it does, this would indicate a glute weakness on that side. You would repeat with the opposite foot as well. When you do this you would also want to see if you had to dramatically shift your weight to one side just to lift that foot off the ground. If you do, this would indicate that you have an unequal weight distribution when standing and it would be especially troublesome when squatting. To fix this quickly, you will want to lay down on the ground with your affected side on top. If your right lower back was bothering you then you would want to lie on your left hip. From here, take your thumb and place it on the area most sore. You should feel that this is going to happen just to the outside of the bony prominence of your pelvis. From here, push to hold back the trigger point and start flossing your leg down and in front of you and then back and up. Your hip should be extended and then lifted into abduction towards the ceiling (being sure to point the toes down to keep the glute medius in focus). Do this about 10 times until you feel the tension in the muscle release. Now, you can burn out the spasm in the trigger point by getting into the fully contracted position of the glute medius muscle and holding as long as you can. Generally, because this muscle is often very weak, this may not be any longer than 30 seconds to a minute. Once you cannot hold it any more you will stand up and you should notice an immediate relief of the pain on that side. This is the quick but not permanent fix for this problem. Since the underlying cause is weakness in the gluteus medius muscle you will want to back this up with some exercises for your low back that you can do a few times a week. I show you three options for this. The first is the hip bump against the wall. The second is called the sack swinger, and can be done with a dog leash if you don’t have a formal dip belt. The last is actually doing the same movement that you did for the treatment, but this time as a strengthening exercise for your low back. Whatever you do, just be sure you are consistent. You will also see that as you relieve the tension in this muscle that your squat performance improves as well. Your depth should be increased and any low back pain that you felt by doing the exercise should be gone since you will now be able to do them with equal force through each leg.
