If you look at comments on any video I’ve done about game engines, you will almost always find the same question “Why would you use this instead of Unity” To be honest, this is now perhaps the most common question I get anymore. So, here’s an attempt to answer it... a discussion on why you should use Unity, and why perhaps you shouldn’t. The text version of this is answered in the question Why Not Just Use Unity available here: https://devga.me/your-questions-answered/#game-engines

OpenGL is in java and more but if you are really good at coding then this can be really fun. i nerver done this way becuse its really hard to do. 2.unreal engine (Med/beginner) the unreal engine is a really nice engine its go nice grathics and looks amazing but the coding in the engine is visual programming. witch is good for beginner but you can do alot with visual coding so its not the best on the programming side but you can still make some really good games with this engine and its not to hard to learn how to use it. 1.Unity(Med) so you proble say why but unity is a really good engine let me tell some of the pros ⦁ its free ⦁ lots of videos to help you ⦁ lots of features ⦁ fun to learn i allways used unity more it is really fun to learn and lots of good videos to help you to make your first game. also you do have to know coding becuse unity only uses c# but if you get an older version of the engine then you will be able to code in java. i have made a few games in unity and yes they did took a while in unity but i learned alot from it and it does make you feel like a pro dev. also on the unity website they have a long list of good video showing you how to make things like ⦁ menus ⦁ code ai ⦁ make maps ⦁ make hole games ⦁ and more the grathics wont be the best in unity so if you want really good grathics you might have to pay and make sure you know what your doing or if you do know what your doing then you can make your own shaders and more. unity: https://unity3d.com/ game maker: https://www.yoyogames.com/gamemaker GoDot: https://godotengine.org/ unreal4: https://www.unrealengine.com/download Make Sure to Follow Me on Twitch And Twitter: Twitter: https://twitter.com/sirgenicgamer Twitch: https://www.twitch.tv/sirgenicgamer Thanks for watching and i will see you in the next video and have a make sure to shere my channel with you friends and family for all there techy needs.

In this Unity vs. Unreal Engine video I explain some basic concepts of both engines when it comes to game design and programming. In Unity there the main objects are called Game Objects to which you can add logic by using C# scripts. In Unreal Engine the analogous entities are called Actors that you can drag to you levels. Then you can add either C++ code or use Blueprints for adding your game logic. This is the best free game engine out there, I will compile a list of the top free game engines for beginners and this game engine will be at the top of the list. Download Construct Classic FREE: https://www.scirra.com/construct-classic Construct Classic The free open-source game creator Make games with Construct Classic Construct Classic is a free, DirectX 9 game creator for Windows, designed for 2D games. It is the predecessor to the more modern Construct 2. Construct Classic uses an event based system for defining how the game behaves, in a visual, human-readable way - you don't need to program or script anything at all. It's intuitive for beginners, but powerful enough for advanced users to work without hindrance. Scirra no longer develops Construct Classic, in order to focus on Construct 2. Construct Classic is, however, open-source, and we've handed development over to the community. Several volunteers have been making maintenance changes. Scirra now act as an incubator for the project. Still, it's free to download the full version - no nag screens, adverts or restricted features, just the complete program for free. Construct is licensed under the GPL. Indie game designers and hobbyists can use Construct to enter the world of game creation. Artists can produce games without having to use any programming. Teachers and students can use Construct to teach the principles of logic in a fun way. Developers can use it to rapidly create mockups and prototypes — or simply as a faster alternative to coding. Whoever you are, Construct has many features to help you. These are outlined here, or you can click the links on the right to go in to more detail. Help support Construct Classic's development! Construct is open-source and developed by volunteers working in their own time. You can pledge money towards new features to encourage development on Fundry. See the box below. Requirements Construct runs on Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7. A graphics card with pixel shader 2.0 and at least 64mb of video memory is recommended. Developers Construct is developed free of charge by volunteers.

A comparison video between Unity's and Unreal Engine's post-processing and graphics! I also tried explaining why Unreal Engine has "better" graphics by default. I went into its standard image effects being added since the creation of a level, and explained further why Unity does not look as good at start. Don't forget to let us know what YOU think and feel about this topic! Do you think Unreal Engine has beautiful image effects? Do you think Unity will be able to take over UE4 with its post-processing stack in 5.6? The models are from different authors, but I tried mixing them and finding the closest possible ones. ▬▬▬ ♦ Check out these videos too! • DISCORD Server for Game Dev, GIVEAWAYS, Game Jams, and MORE! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DJzh3kNijsY • Unity vs Unreal Engine | Graphics Comparison https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hr5IOEQI7eg ▬▬▬ ♦ Links: • Discord: https://discord.gg/4kRCajN • My Website: http://www.sykoos.com • Twitter: http://www.twitter.com/sykoosam • YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/SykooTV ▬▬▬ Partnered by Curse, UnionForGamers. There are things that you need to know: 1) This video is a simple comparison with UE4, like Euclideon compared in the past with low-polygon trees of Crysis 2. When the comparison was convenient, Euclideon used Crysis 2. Now that we have UE4 or Unity, they continue to use Crysis 2. Fair enough? 2) Euclideon claimed that they were the first to use 3D atoms instead of polygons. 3D atoms are voxels and they have been used for years in the game industry. This is the reason why Euclideon don't like the term "voxels". Because they are exposed by the term. 3) Their invention is similar to Sparse Voxel Octree, that can be used also for realtime GPU rendering. The difference is that they rely on isometric conditions and 2D form patterns for distant objects, to avoid perspective calculation. This trick is considered by them "unlimited power", while the rest is speculation. Large defined voxels maps require terabytes of data and you don't have it in a videogame, so this engine cannot be used for videogames. Holoverse runs on a dedicated workstation with terabytes, which is different. And anyway, even with terabytes Holoverse graphics look worse than current engines like UE4 or Unity. 4) Voxels cannot be used for non-rigid animations. If you bend an object made of voxels, you'll end up with empty spaces. You can make some tricks to cover this problem, like transforming with certain restraints, use more voxels where it's required to cover empty spaces or just precalculate frames. Anyway, these techniques have drawbacks and they will never render the same quality of skinned meshes. This is the reason why the animations with Euclideon engine look always weird, not because they don't have the artists to create them but because the engine has issues. 5) When the observer is near to the voxels, they look like Minecraft and this happens also with Euclideon engine. There are hybrid techniques that use the GPU to render Sparse Voxel Octree for distant objects while the foreground is rendered with polygons. Moreover, polygons can be used for animations too. Euclideon cannot do that because they use the CPU that is too slow for polygons, and they will never do it because it's like to admit that they were wrong about everything. They are doomed to that techinque forever. Background: For years Euclideon claimed that their technology is the right way of doing computer graphics with the CPU, because they can do graphics with a power that is supposed to be "Unlimited". The truth is that the Euclideon technology is just another 3D engine that uses a fast search algorithm to get voxels (or what they call 3D atoms) from terabytes stored into octree structures and draw it on the screen. Everything is documented on the patent application WO 2014/043735 Al "A Computer Graphics Method For Rendering Three Dimensional Scenes": http://www.codersnotes.com/notes/euclideon-explained/patent.pdf Of course, this is not "Unlimited Power" and it cannot be used to replace modern realtime rendering because it has several drawbacks. As Euclideon technology is just a voxel engine, it cannot be used to replace engines or techniques that don't require it. It's common sense. Polygons and modern GPUs (which is portrayed by Euclideon like the wrong way of doing it) is the most appropriate, solid and consistent way of doing real-time rendering. Polygons and textures can be used to render 2D and 3D models with few resources to cover up all the possibilities. Graphics libraries such as OpenGL, Direct3D or Vulkan are optimized for processing the primitives through a graphics pipeline made of vertex, tesselation, geometry and fragment stages, with programmable shaders. If not enough, you can use compute shaders, OpenCL or CUDA to implement algorithms where vertices, polygons and textures are not required, like you want to do in common computer programming. This is how current videogames, from the lowest to the highest level, are implemented. There is no such thing in this field of human knowldge that can be replaced by Euclideon technology. Making a claim like this today is a total lack of respect for people that worked in the industry for years, achieving the amazing results that you can see when you play videogames, on a daily basis. Probably Euclideon technology is the best way of doing what they are doing now: use the CPU to render terabytes of 3D points converted from polygons or acquired from the real-world with laser scan technologies. That's it. This video is directly in answer to a question, when should I use this framework (Allegro in that example) instead of a game engine. It's a good question so I created this video. The article detailing game engines vs frameworks vs libraries mentioned in this video is available at: http://www.gamefromscratch.com/post/2015/06/13/GameDev-Glossary-Library-Vs-Framework-Vs-Engine.aspx
