Jeff Beck discusses ‘uncomfortable rivalry’ with Eric Clapton: http://www.nme.com/news/music/jeff-beck-discusses-uncomfortable-rivalry-eric-clapton-2316739. Thanks for watching, subscribe for more videos: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgLAi9JyJpZsVoWccpGI3Wg?sub_confirmation=1 Ahead of a new documentary about his life, Jeff Beck has opened up about his past “uncomfortable rivalry” with Eric Clapton. The new film Still on the Run: The Jeff Beck Story, covers the guitar legend’s entire history – from his teenage days jamming with Jimmy Page to joining the Yardbirds with Beck, solo career and up to the present day. The doc features an all-star cast of rock legends paying tribute to Beck, including Clapton – much to his surprise. “I must admit there was a tear – especially with Eric,” Beck told Rolling Stone. “I never expected him to bother to be in it. I studied his face over and over, just to make sure there wasn’t something else going on [laughs]. But no, it was just overwhelming.” Discussing how Clapton’s “character was emblazoned in my brain as being a real bother boy” due his “punchy” nature, Beck went on to discuss how a rivalry developed during their time in the Yardbirds together, and the years shortly after. “I remember he invited me to this gig [in 1980] in Guilford, near where he lives, and I thought, “Why is he asking me?” I thought to myself, “Obviously you won’t be playing, so go along and have a beer”,” recalled Clapton. “On the way there, he goes, “Do you want to play ‘Blackie’?” And I said, “Uh, I don’t know that song.” He said, “No, it’s my guitar.” I went, “Oh, whoops.” First calamity of the evening. So I said, “I didn’t bring a guitar, so I’ll do that.” Then about a minute later, he turned around and stood at the car and goes, “This is not gonna be one of these blowing-off things, is it?” I said, “Listen, either I play or I don’t.” And there was that, what’s the word, uncomfortable rivalry about it.” He added: “I found out later from Pattie, his wife, that there definitely was [rivalry] – especially with the Stevie Wonder stuff. He was not too amused about me doing something successful with Stevie. I think that maybe got under his skin a bit.” Beck did confess however, that he saw Clapton as existing in a very separate artist world as he “had the blues covered”. Clapton meanwhile, made headlines earlier this year when he opened up about “going deaf” and his ongoing health problems. “The only thing I’m concerned with now is being in my seventies and being able to be proficient,” said Clapton. “I mean, I’m going deaf, I’ve got tinnitus, my hands just about work.” “I’m hoping that people will come along and see me just because, or maybe more than because I’m a curiosity,” he continued. “I know that is part of it, because it’s amazing to myself I’m still here.” NME Newsletter Sign up for the newsletter Your email address: Sign Up By submitting your information, you agree to the Terms & Conditions and Privacy & Cookies Policy. Azealia Banks clashes with Stefflon Don on Instagram after Cardi B feud: http://www.nme.com/news/music/azealia-banks-clashes-with-stefflon-don-after-cardi-b-feud-2315163. Thanks for watching, subscribe for more videos: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgLAi9JyJpZsVoWccpGI3Wg?sub_confirmation=1 Azealia Banks has locked horns with Stefflon Don on Instagram, only days after a war of words with Cardi B. The ‘212’ rapper labelled Cardi a “caricature of a black woman” last week, before a subsequent Instagram feud prompted Cardi to delete her entire account. As the beef escalated between the pair, Stefflon Don waded in and labelled Azealia “crazy”. “I would never let what Azalea banks says affect me dis gyal cray yuh fuk n need help bad”, Steff wrote in the comments of a gossip account. But it wasn’t long before her comments were noticed by Azealia – who hit back with a response of her own. “Well you’re a very lucky girl!! Your music, look, and presence, is generic enough to not evoke a single emotion from me. Congrats! You’re Basic!! Yaaaay!!”, she wrote. The initial comments from Azealia were made in a radio interview with The Breakfast Club. “Two years ago, the conversation surrounding black women’s culture was really reaching an all-time high”, she said. ‘There was just this really, really, really intelligent conversation going on nationally and then everything just kind of changed and then it was like Cardi B. “‘I’m just talking about this caricature of a black woman that black women themselves would never be able to get away with. Like, if my spelling and grammar was that bad, I’d be canceled. If Nicki Minaj spelled like that, we would be ragging on her all day”, she added. #AzealiaBanks, #clashes, #withStefflon, #Instagram, #afterCardi, #feud #black, #woman, #comments, #banks, #clashes, #instagram, #cardi, #stefflon, #azealia, #really, #feud

Thanks for watching, subscribe for more videos: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgLAi9JyJpZsVoWccpGI3Wg?sub_confirmation=1 Grimes has spent the better part of this year hinting that she’s got new music on the way; in February, the songwriter took to Instagram to comment on the difficulties she’s been having with her “shit label,” and since then—amongst recent discussion about her relationship with Elon Musk—Grimes has continued to tease new music. Now on Twitter, the Canadian musician has revealed more details about two upcoming collaborations she’s a part of. The first is a guest feature on K-pop girl-group LOOΠΔ’s (or Loona) upcoming album Beauty & The Beat. She’s also hinted at another collaboration with YouTube popstar Poppy. Last month, she posted pictures of the two together in what appears to be a video shoot.   #GrimesTeasesCollaborations, #withLOOΠΔPoppy

Haim respond to being parodied by ‘Saturday Night Live’ and Nicki Minaj: http://www.nme.com/news/music/haim-saturday-night-live-sketch-response-nicki-minaj-2320893. Thanks for watching, subscribe for more videos: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgLAi9JyJpZsVoWccpGI3Wg?sub_confirmation=1 Haim have registered their approval of a new Saturday Night Live sketch which parodied the band and featured Nicki Minaj delivering a guest rap. Minaj was the musical guest on last night’s episode of the long-running US variety show (May 19), with the rapper performing two of her new tracks – ‘Chun-Li’ and ‘Poke It Out’ – during the live broadcast. One sketch which didn’t air last night has now been posted on SNL‘s digital channels, with the skit sending up Haim. The three sisters are portrayed in the sketch by last night’s guest host Tina Fey and SNL castmembers Aidy Bryant and Kate McKinnon, with the video seemingly taking cues from Haim’s official clip for their song ‘Little of Your Love’, which came out in October 2017. Towards the end of the skit, Minaj turned up to lay down a verse – which kept in line with the sketch’s tone of taking down people who have taken advantage of or upset the ‘Haim’ sisters. See the sketch below. Haim have since registered their approval of the sketch in the form of a very enthusiastic tweet: Last night’s SNL also saw Fey deliver a star-studded opening monologue, with the 30 Rock star inviting the likes of Donald Glover and Chris Rock to make brief cameos. #Haim, #respond, #being, #parodied, #‘SaturdayNightLive’, #NickiMinaj #live, #nicki, #parodied, #night, #approval, #sketch, #nights, #respond, #guest, #minaj, #haim, #rock

Luis Fonsi Talks 'Despacito' Success, Hints at New Musical Collab at Billboard Music Awards: Watch: . Thanks for watching, subscribe for more videos: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgLAi9JyJpZsVoWccpGI3Wg?sub_confirmation=1 Luis Fonsi caught up with Billboard’s Chelsea Briggs on the red carpet at the Billboard Music Awards on Sunday (May 20) to discuss his nominations and early wins, the success of “Despacito” and to hint at a new collaboration that will be dropping very soon.Fonsi, who has been nominated for seven BBMAs and has already won three tonight, tells Billboard, “It makes me super nervous. You never know how people are gonna react, so to know that, to walk in here to the red carpet and know that we got three in the bag is like phew! I’m not gonna strike out…We’re super happy, it’s been an amazing year. Very grateful for all the support, everybody just kind of connected to the song and I’m just happy to celebrate it with everybody today.”The singer also discusses the success of “Despacito,” saying that it is a “great feeling” to see Latin music becoming more popular. “I can’t sit here and take credit for being the forefront of Latin music,” he states. “I’m a small part of it. I think there’s a lot of people who we have to thank, but I just love the fact that people are embracing Latin music and they’re a little bit more open-minded into trying to learn a song that’s in a different language and at the end of the day, it’s all about music and getting people to move and to dance, have a good time, so I‘m really grateful.”He also hints at a new musical collaboration which will be coming out in three weeks, revealing that it is “something a little different, but it’s very kind of islandy. I hope you guys like it…it’s like a British Jamaican artist, that’s all I’m gonna say!”Check out the full video above to hear much more from Luis Fonsi, including what the key to writing a successful song is and what the best compliment he has ever received about “Despacito” has been. #LuisFonsiTalksDespacitoSuccessHints, #MusicalCollab, #BillboardMusicAwardsWatch

'Deadpool 2' Creators Say the Film's Queer Superhero Couple Wasn't a Statement: 'It's Everyday Life': https://www.billboard.com/articles/news/pride/8456736/deadpool-2-creators-queer-superhero-couple-interview. Thanks for watching, subscribe for more videos: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgLAi9JyJpZsVoWccpGI3Wg?sub_confirmation=1 For queer comic book movie fans of recent years, there has been a serious lack of representation. While films like Black Panther and Wonder Woman became cultural touchstones for their honest depiction of black and female superheroes, respectively, there has been a lack of openly queer superheroes on the silver screen.Deadpool 2, the sequel to the hyper-popular 2016 superhero film, finally gave the audience what they wanted. In an early scene of the film, Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds) meets up with teenage mutant Negasonic Teenage Warhead (Brianna Hildebrand), who introduces the Merc with a Mouth to her girlfriend, a fellow mutant named Yukio (Shioli Kutsuna).Fans rejoiced over the news online, praising the film and its creators for finally bringing an openly queer superhero to the screen, while also praising how ordinary their relationship is treated. In a recent interview with Yahoo, the film’s director, David Leitch, said the romance was portrayed exactly as he wanted it to be. “[It wasn’t] a statement we were trying to make,” he said. “I never really thought of it that way.”Writer Paul Wernick added that the queer couple should be treated as any other couple would in a film. “It’s everyday life,” Wernick said. “We ground Deadpool in real life. As outrageous as it is, Deadpool is a very, very grounded movie.” His writing partner Rhett Reese concurred: “We didn’t want to make too big a deal of it.”In the canon of Marvel comic books themselves, the character of Deadpool actually identifies as panual. In the films thus far, Reynolds’ foul-mouthed crimefighter is in a committed relationship with a woman, while the character has yet to explicitly mention how he identifies.Read the full interview with the Deadpool 2 creators here. #Deadpool, #Creators, #Film, #QueerSuperheroCoupleWasn, #Statement, #EverydayLife #interview, #didnt, #creators, #films, #film, #couple, #teenage, #black, #reynolds, #queer, #deadpool, #deal, #superhero

Belly Dove: https://www.slantmagazine.com/music/review/belly-dove. Thanks for watching, subscribe for more videos: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgLAi9JyJpZsVoWccpGI3Wg?sub_confirmation=1 “Tear up the contracts we drew/Our hands gave up too much too soon,” Tanya Donelly laments on “Starryeyed,” the closing track of Dove, Belly's first album in 23 years. The singer's rueful words sound like they could have once been directed at her bandmates, with whom she split after only two albums in the mid-1990s. At the time, the breakup seemed like a hasty move prompted by the failure of their sophomore effort, 1995's King, a collection of infectious, impeccably crafted alt-pop songs that was at direct odds with post-Nirvana rock. (By that time, even the Cranberries had gone grunge.) Dove is as dissimilar to King as that album was to Star, Belly's dreamy, eccentric 1993 debut. In the years since the group called it quits, the individual members, now in their 50s, have become involved in environmental activism and immersed themselves in various visual arts, and you can feel the gulf of over two decades throughout Dove. These are songs that take their sweet time, with a handful even running longer than five minutes. The hooks are less immediate, and with the possible exception of “Army of Clay,” the arrangements are looser than those on the band's previous albums. With a listless intro followed by a burst of fuzzy electric guitar, “Faceless” hints at the giddy, meter-shifting style of King, but the track quickly settles into a reliably measured rhythm. With a few exceptions, the guitar flanger effects that were de rigueur in Belly's heyday are less prominent here; instead, the band favors live strings on tracks like “Girl” and twangy, acoustic guitar on “Artifact” and “Heartstrings.” Many of these songs are, in fact, closer in style and tone to Donelly's solo work than Belly's past output, while “Starryeyed” recalls the wistful folk of Donelly's stepsister, Kristen Hersh. Just as Dove's songs adopt a comparatively traditional pop-rock bent, they're lyrically more cogent than Donelly's early world-salad compositions, with a focus on family and mature relationships. “Suffer the Fools” and “Quicksand” are less angst-ridden breakup songs than lessons in conscious uncoupling. “We let ourselves be owned by things long gone/Old photographs, old songs wrap us in gauze,” Donelly waxes nostalgically on the dream-pop standout “Human Child,” which climbs to a heady climax of intertwining vocal parts reminiscent of the band's past ballads. Belly might take a more conventional approach to their music now, but Dove proves it can still take flight. #BellyDove #MusicAlbumReviewsBellyDoveBellyTouringLLC

Bishop Briggs Church of Scars: https://www.slantmagazine.com/music/review/bishop-briggs-church-of-scars. Thanks for watching, subscribe for more videos: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgLAi9JyJpZsVoWccpGI3Wg?sub_confirmation=1 There were reasons to be optimistic about the 1990s revival. The decade saw, for the first and perhaps last time, the blurring of the line between the underground and the mainstream in pop music; introspective singer-songwriters, indie bands, socially conscious rappers, even brooding trip-hop artists from across the pond comingled amicably on the charts. But '90s nostalgia has, to this point, mostly consisted of the resurrection of questionable fashion (scrunchies, mom jeans) and TV (Will and Grace, Roseanne). British singer-songwriter Bishop Briggs's “River,” however, is the kind of song you might have heard sandwiched between Paula Cole's “Where Have All the Cowboys Gone?” and the Spice Girls's “Wannabe” on the radio in the late '90s. The track's mix of blues-rock and more contemporary elements—like handclaps that morph into trap snares—feels like a throwback to the alternative-pop bands that infiltrated Top 40 stations just before the turn of the century. And Briggs's debut, Church of Scars, delivers in kind, with a series of gothic-soul dirges and blues-inflected pop. The looped refrain on “River” sounds like it was lifted from Adele's 25, an album that could have, in turn, used some of Briggs's trip-hop edge. Church of Scars harnesses the soulful blues-pop that Adele has so deftly deployed on hits like “Rolling in the Deep.” Standouts “Wild Horses” and “Hallowed Ground” are defined by canned horns and reverb-drenched vocals, while the classic R&B tropes of “Lyin'” and “Hi-Lo (Hollow)” are juxtaposed by pitched-down and diced-up vocals, respectively. Spread across 10 tracks, though, Briggs's formula ultimately reveals itself to be one-note. The incessant box-stomping and earnest belting on “Dream” obliterates the subtlety of the song's pensive acoustic guitar strains and gospel humming. For all its sermonizing and church-y fundamentals, the album is largely joyless. “Why can't I let my demons lie?/Keep screaming into the pillow,” Briggs laments on “Wild Horses.” When, two-thirds of the way through Church of Scars, the singer cynically bemoans that “there's more pain in love than we can find in hate,” her dour disposition has grown exhausting. #BishopBriggsChurch, #Scars #MusicAlbumReviewsBishopBriggsChurchofScarsIsland

'Mean Girls' Broadway Star Grey Henson Talks His Tony Award Nomination & Representing Queer Youth on Stage: https://www.billboard.com/articles/news/pride/8456189/mean-girls-grey-henson-broadway-star-tony-nomination. Thanks for watching, subscribe for more videos: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgLAi9JyJpZsVoWccpGI3Wg?sub_confirmation=1 When the character of Damian appeared onscreen in the 2004 smash hit film Mean Girls, audiences were immediately taken by him. Played by Daniel Franzese, the openly gay high schooler was a dramatic and oftentimes hilarious addition to the cast, constantly coaching Lindsay Lohan’s Cady Heron through social situations while also delivering some of the film’s most iconic lines. Fourteen years later, Damian is back, this time played by Broadway actor Grey Henson, who is creating his own interpretation of the iconic role. Henson plays Damian in the new Broadway musical version of Mean Girls, now featuring the character acting, singing and dancing his way through the story, while trying to find his place at North Shore High School. "I think my favorite part about him as a character is that he is so unapologetically himself, and that's what I think people are drawn to," Henson tells Billboard. "Because that just makes people comfortable when you're watching a show, and somebody just sort of handles themselves that way." The show has achieved serious success in only a month on Broadway -- along with garnerning general praise from critics, the show has been nominated for 12 Tony Awards, one of which is also a nomination for Henson in best featured actor in a musical. Henson talked to Billboard about achieving his first-ever Tony Award nomination, setting an example for young fans, the show’s new cast recording (coming out Friday, May 18) and more. First things first, congratulations on the Tony nomination! I was so thrilled when I saw it -- what was your reaction when you found out? Oh gosh, it was shock and awe, really. Truly, my heart was racing when it was happening. Because you never want to care too much about those things, of course, in case things go the other way. And I was so stoked for the show, because we were racking up a bunch of nominations. But to hear my name called was just wild, and I'm still processing it, for sure. Like you said, the show is the leading the nominations along with the SpongeBob musical. What has that meant for you to see this kind of a response for Mean Girls? It just feels like we're doing it right! [Laughs.] You know, it feels like all of the work is paying off! This whole time, this whole team, the cast, the crew, the creative team has been so amazing. It feels truly like a family, and that started from the top down with Tina [Fey], of course, and our director Casey [Nicholaw]. I got to see the show; you stole every scene you were in, and I felt like you really embodied the role of Damian. Is getting into character as Damian a stretch for you? [Laughs.] I get this question a lot, and I do think that... a lot of me is in Damian, but he's got way more confidence than I do. I think he's a little sassier than I am in real life, and I mean, definitely my high school self is not at the same level as Damian. But that's what I love so much about it, is [how] Damian's confidence becomes mine! Dan + Shay Share Romantic Wedding Song, 'Speechless': http://theboot.com/dan-shay-speechless-album-track-list/. Thanks for watching, subscribe for more videos: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgLAi9JyJpZsVoWccpGI3Wg?sub_confirmation=1 Ahead of the release date for their third studio album, Dan + Shay have shared a romantic new ballad, "Speechless," and the song has all the right ingredients to be the wedding song of the summer. Readers can press play above to watch the video for the sentimental song. Featuring video footage from the real-life weddings of bandmates Dan Smyers and Shay Mooney that took place last year, the video offers glimpses into some of the band members' happiest personal moments. Smyer's marriage to Abby Law took place in May of 2017, and Mooney wed Hannah Billingsley in October of 2017. “We both got married last year, and wrote a song about the moment we first saw our beautiful brides walking down the aisle,” the duo posted on Instagram. Some of those swoon-worthy memories have made their way into the song's lyrics. "I know that I'll be a mess / The second that I see you," the duo croons in the first verse of the ballad. "You won't be surprised / That happens every time / Nothing new." The sweeping tune reaches its first chorus just in time to watch Smyers and Mooney, all dressed up in wedding-day tuxes, turn around to the first glimpse of their respective brides. "I'm speechless / You already know that you're my weakness / After all this time I'm just as nervous / Every time you walk into the room," the chorus continues, as the video goes on to depict the couples being announced at their receptions, cutting the wedding cake and enjoying more iconic wedding moments. "Speechless" is a taste of the music from their upcoming eponymous album. On Friday (May 18) the duo shared the track list of their upcoming new album, as well as its release date, via Instagram.  The song follows the release of singles "Tequila" and "All to Myself." #ShayShareRomanticWeddingSongSpeechless #danshayspeechless, #dansmyerswedding, #shaymooneywedding, #danshaymarried, #danshaynewsong, #danshaynewalbum, #danshaywedding

The 10 Best Performances From the 2018 Billboard Music Awards: . Thanks for watching, subscribe for more videos: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgLAi9JyJpZsVoWccpGI3Wg?sub_confirmation=1 The Billboard Music Awards went down this Sunday night (May 20) with big wins for Taylor Swift, Luis Fonsi, Khalid and many more, and plenty of powerful moments inspired by recent real-world events. And of course, there were great performances: duets that spanned generations, breakout moments from solo stars looking to go next-level, and icons proving why they're every bit worthy of the descriptor. Here are Billboard's ten favorite performances from the night that was. 10. Ed Sheeran, "Galway Girl"Beamed in via satellite from Dublin, Ireland, the energy from Ed Sheeran's rendition of Divide cut "Galway Girl" was still fairly palpable, as Ed's racing vocal and frenzied acoustic delivery carried the song with impressive energy, despite not having a rhythm track as accompaniment. Of course, it helps when you have an entire sea of ecstatic fans singing your words back to you -- the ones who can keep up, anyway.9. Zedd, Maren Morris & Grey, "The Middle"You couldn't help but wonder if the three artists might've tried reinventing their 2018 smash the way the way Zedd and Alessia Cara did with their stripped-down "Stay" at the American Music Awards last year. But when you've got a pop song as perfect as "The Middle," sometimes you're best off just leaving well enough alone, and that's what they did with their emphatic rendition of the top 5 hit, with Maren Morris' soaring vocal proving that whatever circuitous route it took to end up with her on the song, it was clearly worth the trouble.8. Shawn Mendes & Khalid, "Youth"Mendes & Khalid's splendidly intertwining vocals made their collab a far more powerful experience live than on record, particularly once they were joined by the Marjory Stoneman choir for the song's rousing climax. The "Protect Our Children" message on Khalid's shirt was also undeniably powerful, though actually not as much so as the titular message on Mendes' and the choir's sweatshirts, a powerful one-word phrase that almost serves as its own statement of defiance in today's age of such relentless teenage tragedy.7. Kelly Clarkson, 2017-'18 Hits MedleyIf Ariana Grande's stunning opening number didn't get BBMAs viewers back in the mood for music celebration, Kelly Clarkson's monologue-ending medley of recent smashes -- from the wide-ranging likes of Kendrick Lamar, Imagine Dragons and an overcome-with-disbelief Maren Morris -- certainly got the show right on track. The highlights from the vocal powerhouse's typically room-shaking performance were many, but hard to beat Taylor Swift in the audience, miming along to her own "Look What You Made Me Do" chorus, fingernail-check and all.6. Khalid &Normani, "Love Lies"Few presences are as genial at a pop awards show as Khalid, whose soothing voice, blinding smile and shirt-half-tucked casualness make every performance of his compelling. But the star-making turn at the BBMAs performance of "Love Lies" was undoubtedly Normani's, looking like Beyoncé with the hallway poses of her intro, equally #BestPerformancesFrom, #2018BillboardMusicAwards

Rihanna’s response to being asked about Prince Harry’s wedding was brilliant: http://www.nme.com/news/music/rihanna-prince-harry-wedding-response-2314347. Thanks for watching, subscribe for more videos: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgLAi9JyJpZsVoWccpGI3Wg?sub_confirmation=1 Rihanna recently shut down a reporter after being asked if she would be attending Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding. The singer met Harry in 2016 when both attended an event in Barbados to mark 50 years of independence in the Caribbean island. With Harry set to marry Meghan Markle at Windsor Castle this weekend (May 19), Rihanna was recently asked during an interview with Access Hollywood whether she received an invitation to the upcoming Royal Wedding. “So is that really coming up like soon or something?”, Rihanna asked, appearing unaware of the entire thing. “Why would you think I’m invited?”, she then asked. After the reporter explained it was because the pair had met once, Rihanna replied: “You met me, you think you’re coming to my wedding? Am I coming to yours?” “Okay then maybe I should feel a way [about not being invited to Prince Harry’s wedding],” Rihanna joked. Watch in the clip below: It was recently revealed that Rihanna is working on a reggae album. In a Vogue feature, writer Chioma Nnandi said that the follow-up to 2016’s ‘Anti’ would be influenced by Bob Marley and the influential record producer Supa Dups, best known for his work with Beenie Man and Sean Paul. “She plans to make a reggae album,” Nnandi stated. The update comes after the Barbadian artist assured fans that new music was on the way earlier this week.  “She coming sis!” the singer told a fan when they asked about the whereabouts of new material. A source close to Rihanna also claimed that there could well be two new albums on the way. #Rihanna’s, #response, #being, #asked, #about, #PrinceHarry’s, #wedding, #brilliant #harry, #singer, #think, #response, #rihannas, #coming, #brilliant, #harrys, #prince, #wedding, #asked, #invited, #rihanna

Watch Shawn Mendes, Khalid, Perform “Youth” With Parkland Students at the 2018 Billboard Music Awards: . Thanks for watching, subscribe for more videos: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgLAi9JyJpZsVoWccpGI3Wg?sub_confirmation=1 Recently critically-acclaimed Shawn Mendes and partner in Gen-Z chart-conquering feats Khalid debuted their song “Youth” live at tonight’s Billboard Music Awards, joined by members of Parkland, Florida’s Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School Show Choir. A genuinely stirring ballad about staying true to yourself, “Youth” offers a message of hope in spite of an unstable, frequently dangerous world that would rather silence young adults than let them speak out. On stage at tonight’s ceremony, Khalid and Mendes, who played guitar, finished their performance standing with their arms around the students from Parkland, Florida. As TMZ reported earlier today, Mendes and Khalid planned their performance as a tribute to young people affected by gun violence and invited participation from students at Marjory Stoneman Douglas, the site of the February school shooting that killed 17 people and spurred the March for Our Lives youth activist movement. Sadly, the subject couldn’t be more urgent: Last Friday, as the performers rehearsed for tonight’s event, another horrific school shooting at Santa Fe High School in Texas on Friday killed 10 people. Host Kelly Clarkson opened the show with a tribute to them and their families. Khalid was nominated for five Billboard Awards this year, including Top New Artist (which he won), Top Male R&B Artist, Top R&B Album, and Top R&B Song for his hit “Young Dumb & Broke.” He also appeared earlier at tonight’s ceremony to perform “Love Lies,” his duet with Fifth Harmony’s Normani. Mendes had just one award nomination this year, in the fan-voted Top Social Artist category, which he lost to BTS. “Youth” is the third single from Mendes’s upcoming self-titled album, out May 25. Also last Friday, Mendes appeared as a surprise guest at Taylor Swift’s Reputation tour, where the two performed his 2017 hit “There’s Nothing Holdin’ Me Back.” Watch a clip of Shawn Mendes, Khalid, and the Marjory Stoneman Douglas students performing “Youth” at the 2018 Billboard Music Awards below. #WatchShawnMendesKhalidPerform“Youth”WithParklandStudents, #2018BillboardMusicAwards

The rapper recently performed at a night event during Cannes Film Festival and was joined on stage by a major act in Hollywood. John Travolta hopped on stage to help Fif perform his hit 2005 single, and the actor still has the moves like “Grease Lightening.”In the video, which was shared on The Shade Room’s Instagram account on May 15, 50 Cent appears to be rapping along to his track “Just A Lil Bit.” While he’s rhyming, the American Crime Story actor is dancing around him. The song is a little raunchy, but that didn’t stop Travolta from showing off his dance moves. It’s unclear how this hilarious moment came to be, but we’re pretty glad it did. 50 and Travolta aren’t the only ones having a blast at Cannes. Skrrap! Big Shaq returns with new track ‘Man Don’t Dance’: http://www.nme.com/news/music/skrrap-big-shaq-returns-new-track-man-dont-dance-2318923. Thanks for watching, subscribe for more videos: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgLAi9JyJpZsVoWccpGI3Wg?sub_confirmation=1 Big Shaq has returned with new track ‘Man Don’t Dance’. Check it out in full below. The track is the latest effort from London comedian Michael Dapaah and acts as an unofficial sequel to 2017’s ‘Man’s Not Hot’, which became a huge viral hit across the globe. Check out the track in full below. Since the success of ‘Man’s Not Hot’, Big Shaq has become a familiar presence both on TV and online – bagging an NME Award nomination for ‘Hero Of The Year’ in 2018. He also spoke to NME about his hope of collaborating with Noel Gallagher, after the former Oasis guitarist admitted that he was a big fan of the rapper. “Noel Gallagher, he’s a legend,” Shaq told NME. “One legend’s approval of what you’re doing is nice – but you know, let’s wait and see what’s going to happen.” Asked about the likelihood of the pair working together, he replied: “Who knows? Who bloody knows mate?” Rather bizarrely, Shaq also became the face of Lynx earlier this year – receiving a talking can that plays his track every time it is sprayed. Shaq’s  fame was initially cemented by an appearance on Charlie Sloth’s  ‘Fire In The Booth’ session on 1Xtra, and he gained a fan in Jeremy Corbyn, who referenced him at last year’s Labour party conference. He gave an alternative Queen’s speech last Christmas, and even teamed up with Jack Whitehall at this year’s BRIT Awards, performing ‘Man’s Not Hot’ at the O2 Arena in London. #Skrrap, #Shaq, #returns, #with, #track, #‘ManDon’tDance’ #london, #track, #sequel, #returns, #mans, #shaq, #dont, #knows, #dance, #skrrap

Judith Hill Invites Everyone to 'The Pepper Club': Video Premiere: https://www.billboard.com/articles/columns/hip-hop/8456648/judith-hill-pepper-club-video-premiere. Thanks for watching, subscribe for more videos: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgLAi9JyJpZsVoWccpGI3Wg?sub_confirmation=1 Single and video signal arrival of new "Golden Child" album and live musical. Since winning the 2015 Grammy Award for best music film as one of the featured backup singers in the Academy Award-winning documentary 20 Feet from Stardom and releasing her Prince-produced studio album Back in Time the same year, Judith Hill has been relatively quiet. But that doesn’t mean the former The Voice contestant hasn’t stayed busy. The singer/songwriter/musician premieres her new single’s video via Billboard this morning (May 18). “The Pepper Club” is the first release from her forthcoming full-length studio album, Golden Child, which will come out on her Gloryhill label. Golden Child is also the title of her first live musical production; both projects will bow concurrently later this year.“I was just writing organically from the heart,” says Hill of the 13-track album that she began working on in 2016. “As I kept creating, I realized there was a story to be told, a message that carried a common thread,” she continues. “That’s what inspired the musical.” That musical thread sews together stories involving a community of diverse residents and how they find unity as they overcome societal divisions and hatred that try to separate them. Hill is quick to point out that Golden Child isn’t a traditional musical. “It’s a Cirque du Soleil kind of modern ballet,” she explains, one that infuses African, samba, classical and Arabic, among other cultural flavors. Also threaded with the spontaneity and improvisation of a funk/rock concert, Golden Child will be an immersive experience, performed in a yet-unnamed Los Angeles venue where the audience will sit in the center. “It’s almost like an installation,” says Hill, “celebrating the collaboration between art, fashion and music.”Filmed in Los Angeles and directed by award-winning filmmaker Jon Jon “JJ” Augustavo, the rollicking “The Pepper Club” video introduces some of the characters that will appear in the live musical. The video cast includes choreographers Bradley Rapier and Tessandra Chavez, So You Think You Can Dance champ Lex Ishimoto and fellow season 14 finalist and Ishimoto’s girlfriend Taylor Sieve. The Pepper Club itself is an obscure speakeasy in the desert where everyone can be accepted for themselves.Watch the “The Pepper Club” video:As for the Golden Child album, Hill says it’s similar stylistically to its funk/soul-driven predecessor Back in Time. Except for one major difference: she wrote with a guitar this time rather than her trusty piano. “It was an instrument I loved but never played before,” she says of picking up the guitar a year ago. “It’s almost like another voice, a hidden voice that finally wanted to come out. There’s a lot of aggressive energy in me, so you’ll hear more guitar on this project. It’s just a very powerful form of expression.”While it’s not on the forthcoming album, Hill also recently released the single “Abracadabra,” featured in national ad campaigns for Kohl’s and the Blue M #JudithHillInvitesEveryone, #PepperClubVideoPremiere #angeles, #music, #child, #video, #hill, #projects, #judith, #invites, #pepper, #album, #golden, #musical, #inspired, #club

Jonathan Cain Talks New Solo Release, Shares Title Track 'The Songs You Leave Behind': Premiere: https://www.billboard.com/articles/columns/rock/8456506/jonathan-cain-the-songs-you-leave-behind-premiere. Thanks for watching, subscribe for more videos: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgLAi9JyJpZsVoWccpGI3Wg?sub_confirmation=1 As he prepares to release his own new album The Songs You Leave Behind -- a compendium of both new and older material whose title track is premiering exclusively below -- next month, Jonathan Cain is also feeling optimistic about some new Journey music in the future."I'd like to revisit that," Cain tells Billboard. "I'm in a good place musically, mentally, spiritually. I'd like to get with Neal (Schon) and find out what he's got on his mind, get with Arnel (Pineda) and just start gathering (material) and see what we've got." Cain is hopeful that opportunity will come during Journey's summer tour with Def Leppard and the Pretenders and lead to hitting the studio -- preferably Cain's own in Nashville, where he has the Record Plant console on which Journey made 1986's Raised On Radio  -- later this year."After this tour we may have a window to do it," Cain says. "It could be a great record. I can almost see it in my mind. I couldn't tell you that a year ago."Last year, of course, Journey was curiously embattled following its April induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Some social media posts by Schon and aimed primarily at Cain pointed to a band at odds. But that's apparently not the case anymore."Neal and I have reset," reports Cain, who claimed to be baffled by the issues last year and says he's not addressed them any further now. "We didn't even talk about it. We don't have to. It's over. It was a big misunderstanding to a large degree. We didn't have to explain it. Time heals everything. The music's bigger than those kinds of disagreements. When I walked into the room for rehearsals I could see (Schon) was ready to go again. He's excited to go out there and play together, and I think the brotherhood is restored in a good way."With Journey back on the road May 21, Cain will bring out The Songs You Leave Behind on June 8. Inspired by his 2017 memoir Don't Stop Believin'..., the 19-track album combines songs from his pre-Journey career, some of which were companion pieces for the audio version of the book, and seven never before released tracks, including "What Else Have I Missed," which is dedicated to Cain's children, and "The Songs You Leave Behind." "I finished (the title track) the day I spent making a video about the book," Cain recalls. "I was driving home from Nashville to Orlando and I was just, like, hit with this song. I probably wrote in in 20 minutes, just like boom boom boom. I wrote 'Faithfully' like that, a 20-minute tune, automatic and effortless. It's just me saying you'll be remembered for the songs you leave behind; As a songwriter and having the blessings and the success I've had, that's all I can hope for, y'know?"Cain calls The Songs You Leave Behind "a very personal album" and is also happy to have a vehicle for '70s material that's gone out of print over the years. The set includes several faith-based songs, while the wrenching "The Day They Became Angels" recalls the 1958 fire at his parochial school in Chicago #JonathanCainTalks, #SoloReleaseSharesTitleTrack, #Songs, #LeaveBehindPremiere #written, #journey, #leave, #boom, #jonathan, #talks, #cain, #songs, #schon, #thats, #solo, #title, #material, #track

The Mighty Mighty Bosstones Preview New Album With 'Wonderful Day for the Race': Exclusive: https://www.billboard.com/articles/columns/rock/8456692/the-mighty-mighty-bosstones-new-album. Thanks for watching, subscribe for more videos: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgLAi9JyJpZsVoWccpGI3Wg?sub_confirmation=1 Fresh off their performance at last month’s Back to the Beach Festival, a SoCal throwdown featuring many of their ’90s ska peers, The Mighty Mighty Bosstones have announced the June 15 release of While We’re At It, their first new album since 2011. Billboard has the exclusive premiere of the leadoff single, “Wonderful Day for the Race,” below. The new song is classic Bosstones: a rush of big-hearted brass and frantic guitars inviting you to dance your face off while contemplating larger issues. The multi-racial Boston nine-piece has always broadcast messages of tolerance—the “it” in the title of their 1997 blockbuster Let’s Face It refers to bigotry of all kinds—and “Wonderful Day at the Race” hints at those same ideas. The “race” in the lyrics ain’t the Kentucky Derby—it’s the human one, a noun people always seem to forget is singular.“That song was based on the insignificance of what we truly are, up against the importance of what we are,” says Bosstones frontman Dicky Barrett. “Our place in the universe and who we think we are versus who we really are. It flip-flops back and forth between those two thoughts, ultimately landing on the importance of love and unity.”The title was inspired by something Barrett’s dad liked to say back in the day: “It’s a wonderful day for the race.”“I was always caught off guard,” says Barrett. “As a dopey kid, I would go, ‘What race?’ And he would always go, ‘The human race.’ It’s a tribute to him as well as a good message. We’re lucky to have what we have. We have this day, and we have who we are in ourselves. If that’s your starting point, that’s pretty damn good.”Elsewhere on While We’re At It, the Bosstones’ 10th studio album and third with producer Ted Hutt, the politics are a little more explicit. The beat-driven “Divide” calls out a certain “unstable and erratic” leader, while “Here We Are” describes a nation in freefall over stabbing guitars.“Hugo’s Wife” upends the notion that America was any better in the ‘50s. It’s all about Bosstones bassist Joe Gittleman’s grandfather Hugo Butler, a famed Hollywood screenwriter who was blacklisted during the communist witch hunts of the ’50s and forced to live in exile in Mexico with his wife, actress Jean Rouverol. The song ends with Barrett singing, “Political audacity that will go down in history / a lesson that we didn’t really learn.”“I don’t think our politics are confusing,” says Barrett, who also serves as the announcer on Jimmy Kimmel Live! “I think people know where we stand and know the things we believe in. We say them, and we stand behind them.”As much as While We’re At It reflects life in 2018, The Bosstones also want to offer fans an escape. The album kicks off with “Green Bay, Wisconsin,” a high-stepping romp about a Midwestern ska girl who quits her supermarket job and finds bliss at the Viva Lake Geneva Scooter Rally. Barrett says they were trying to write “the ultimate ska song,” and sure enough, the chorus references “One Step Beyond” by Madness an #MightyMightyBosstonesPreview, #AlbumWithWonderful, #RaceExclusive #race, #mighty, #wonderful, #preview, #thats, #album, #exclusive, #bosstones, #beat, #think, #barrett, #song

Halsey and The Chainsmokers pay emotional tribute to Avicii at the Billboard Music Awards: . Thanks for watching, subscribe for more videos: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgLAi9JyJpZsVoWccpGI3Wg?sub_confirmation=1 Halsey and The Chainsmokers were among the leading acts paying tribute to Avicii at the Billboard Music Awards last night. The Las Vegas ceremony took place exactly a month since the pioneering DJ’s death, and honoured his memory by showing some of his greatest moments during the In Memoriam segment. But the tributes were given a real emotional edge when The Chainsmokers were given a chance to honour the DJ and recall their touching experiences of working with him. “His passing was a great loss for the music world and for us. He was an artist who inspired so many in so many ways and simply put he meant so much to us and so many in the EDM community”, The Chainsmokers’ Andrew Taggart said as he handed out the award for Top Hot 100 Song. Halsey added: “Everyone who worked with him would agree he was such a joy and it makes this tragedy all the more painful. And it’s a reminder to all of us to be there and to support and love all of our friends and family members who may be struggling with mental health issues.” Taggart paid further tribute later in the evening, dedicating their award for top dance/electronic artist to the ‘Levels’ star. “We want to dedicatedthis award to Avicii”, Taggart said during The Chainsmokers’ acceptance speech. “I know everyone that was nominated for this award was massively influenced by him. He made us believe that this was a realistic career, something we could do with our lives, inspired all of us, influenced our music, influenced pop music, music in general, and he will be missed. I hope you’re somewhere. I hope you’ve found peace, and we love you.” Although Avicii’s   #Halsey, #Chainsmokers, #emotional, #tribute, #Avicii, #BillboardMusicAwards

Thanks for watching, subscribe for more videos: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgLAi9JyJpZsVoWccpGI3Wg?sub_confirmation=1 American Idol has had its share of surprise guests, but Idol judge Luke Bryan was caught off guard when his own mother made an unexpected visit to the show on the May 13 Mother's Day episode. To throw the country star off, a "taped" message from his mom was played for Bryan before she appeared. "Hi Luke," his mother, LeClaire, said in the clip. "I miss you here on Mother’s Day. (I) wish I could be with you. I’m having a good day down here at the beach. Wish you were here with me. I’m very proud of you. I’m getting excited about the night. I get to watch American Idol one more time. Love you. Call you in the morning. I have something to tell you about fishing." After the message, Bryan took a moment to reflect on his mom and the importance of fishing in their family, while the audience chuckled as LeClaire tip-toed up behind him for a surprise hug. Bryan posted a shot of the moment on his Instagram feed after the show, with a caption that read "That feeling when your mom surprises you on #AmericanIdol." The episode offered more emotional moments as well, as Carrie Underwood returned as a mentor and to give a live performance on the show that made her a star, and the top three finalists were announced. Stream Johnny Jewel’s New Album Themes For Television: . Thanks for watching, subscribe for more videos: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgLAi9JyJpZsVoWccpGI3Wg?sub_confirmation=1 Last year, Johnny Jewel of Chromatics reportedly recorded 20 hours of music for David Lynch’s Twin Peaks: The Return. While Lynch never used any of the music, Jewel held onto it and has now released it as a full 21-track album titled Themes For Television. The new album features eerie scores named after different scenes from the show, as well as an alternate version of Chromatic’s “Shadow,” which the band performed on the first episode of the series. The album also contains “Windswept,” a song that predates Jewel’s working on the show but was used in the series. “The project began as a sonic exploration of the sounds I was hearing in my nightmares,” Jewel said in a statement. “I wanted to find my way out of the maze by focusing on beauty over fear — like the way the fractured sunrise looks in a dream.” That certainly sounds like a Twin Peaks idea. The new album follows up Jewel’s last album, Digital Rain which was released earlier this year. Chromatics have also just released their first single, “Black Walls,” from their allegedly forthcoming new album Dear Tommy (which still doesn’t have a release date). You can stream Themes For Television below. You can also watch a video for the track “Red Door” below.   @israelizreal #StreamJohnnyJewel’s, #AlbumThemes, #Television

Taylor Swift's Next Album Could Be Coming Before the End of 2019: . Thanks for watching, subscribe for more videos: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgLAi9JyJpZsVoWccpGI3Wg?sub_confirmation=1 Fans waited a long three years for Taylor Swift to deliver Reputation, her follow-up to 2014's 1989, but the timeline until her next album release might not be quite so far away.Swift, who will be 29 this December, said she'll be releasing another album prior to turning 30, according to a video blog posted by Perez Hilton after he spoke with her backstage at the Rose Bowl in Los Angeles Saturday night (May 19). That means a new album is on the horizon for 2019 at the latest. The pair had a conversation on the "Delicate" singer's second night in town, where she was performing on her Reputation Stadium Tour, and Perez recounted quite a bit of it in his update. "What I did say to Taylor was I would love it if the next album had a song called '30' to keep up the continuation -- she had 'Fifteen,' she had '22,'" he says in the clip, referring to tracks off of Swift's Fearless and Red albums. And then came the reveal: "She's like, 'Oh, well, the next album will definitely be out before I'm 30.'"Before the three-year break between 1989 and Reputation, Swift was on a regular schedule with putting out new music. She's released albums in the fall of 2006, 2008, 2010, 2012, 2014 and then, of course, 2017.Perez, who took his son to the show, is hoping to hear a "full-on return to country," though he admits that's an unlikely move for the pop star at this point.Check out his photo with Swift and watch his video blog (starting around the 13:05 mark for his remarks on the upcoming album) below. #TaylorSwift, #NextAlbumCould, #ComingBefore, #2019

Thanks for watching, subscribe for more videos: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgLAi9JyJpZsVoWccpGI3Wg?sub_confirmation=1 “Cinematic.” Read any write-up of Johnny Jewel’s music -- whether it's his solo work, material from his role as the main brain behind Chromatics, or as a member of several side projects on his Italians Do It Better label -- and odds are that you’ll see the word “cinematic” somewhere. There’s a reason that’s such a popular description, though: Jewel specializes in sleek-sounding, neon-streaked songs that are spiked with tension while feeling deeply romantic.Jewel has made the cinema comparison even easier in recent years, seeing that his work has actually played on screens big and small. The 43-year-old has released a handful of soundtracks under his own name, two of his bands landed songs in the 2011 arthouse-noir flick Drive (a consolation prize, considering Jewel worked on a score that wasn’t used) and, roughly a year ago, Chromatics appeared in the premiere episode of Twin Peaks: The Return, David Lynch’s long-awaited, mind- and medium-melting reprise of his early-‘90s TV series.“I just love the synergy of sound and vision,” Jewel tells Billboard over the phone. “It’s incredible. It’s like one plus one equals a million.” To mark the anniversary of that Twin Peaks cameo, Jewel has surprise-released Themes for Television, a 21-track collection of mostly instrumental music that coincided with recordings he made for Lynch’s sprawling limited series. “It’s difficult to know where it fits in [my solo catalog], and that’s one of the freedoms of being independent,” Jewel says. “Because it’s such an abstract record, the people that are going to be into it are going to be already thinking outside the box, and they’re going to be excited that there’s more wallpaper for their dreams.”Billboard spoke with Jewel about crafting Themes for Television, the status of Chromatics’ long-delayed Dear Tommy album (which is reportedly coming out this fall, if the announcement that came with recent single “Black Walls” is to be believed) and more. This interview has been edited and condensed for clarity. How and when did these songs first start to take shape? Was it right after David Lynch’s music supervisor suggested Chromatics for Twin Peaks: The Return? No, long before. I’m not sure the exact time, but a year to a year and a half before then? I kind of work in a nonlinear way, so I start projects all the time that I have no idea where it’s going to end up. I had begun exploring pastoral waves of synth and more abstract, spacious stuff that eventually ended up evolving into what became [Jewel’s 2017 solo album] Windswept. And this collection started to take more of a refined shape after you got involved with Twin Peaks? Or was it mostly what it was?It was mostly what it was. The way that I work is if I’m playing music, I’m recording music. I don’t know how to document music other than recording it: I can’t write it down. And a lot of the music -- especially this type of stuff, that’s outside of the pop spectrum -- is largely improvisational. So, it only happens once #JohnnyJewel, #ChromaticsTalksSurpriseSoloAlbum, #DearTommyDelays, #DreamReality, #Release, #Album
