2018 New Beginnings Next Step Benefit Concert with John Flynn Best choir ever and my favorite part of the evening... Even though the benefit concert was out of state (and required special permission for some guys to attend) we had a great turnout of NBNS members last night. Of course they didn't know they'd be asked to sing!

Group singing of “Tell Me Why” by students of Lorraine Music Academy and the LAMPstand band at "A Musical Memorial Remembering Lal Bahadur Shastri" hosted by the LAMP Trust & the Lorraine Music Academy in collaboration with Municipal Corporation of Gurugram on 22 October 2016 to commemorate the 51st Anniversary of the famous slogan JAI JAWAN JAI KISAN that our Nation’s Hero, Bharat Ratna Lal Bahadur Shastri, has given to our Nation! This slogan is still relevant to the India of our next generation. The audience paid homage to our 2nd Prime Minister on his recent 112th birth anniversary and remembered the 51st Anniversary of the Indo-Pak war that he victoriously led the nation into, followed by the signing of a peace treaty in Tashkent a few months later. This event also heralded the 50th Golden Anniversary Year of Haryana State! The spirit of patriotism filled the air at the Government College for Girls Auditorium in Gurugram, National Capital Region of Delhi. Members of the Lal Bahadur Shastri family attended the event. Aubrey Aloysius, Founder of LAMP Trust, also spoke about the Biographical Feature-length film in the making A HERO OF WAR AND PEACE www.HeroOfWarAndPeace.com and shared a curtain raiser trailer. Angelic voices of young children aged 4 to 12, teenagers, youth and professional musicians from the Lorraine Music Academy and from many schools in Haryana and Rajasthan performed. The evening began with a heavenly hair raising performance by young students of the Lorraine Music Academy and Lorraine Fiona Aloysius, playing on the piano and singing a song called ‘A Little Peace’....“A little loving, giving, sharing, patience and understanding will build a better tomorrow”. The song explained everything that Lal Bahadur Shastri stood for. He encouraged the country to make little sacrifices that would together lead our nation to victory over famine and war. The LAMPstand Band also performed “Tell Me Why”. Professional musicians along with students from Lorraine Music Academy, students from prominent educational institutions from across Haryana & Rajasthan - Pathways World School, Suncity World School, Scottish High International School, Paramlakshya World School, CCA School, Lotus Valley International School, Blue Bells Public School - expressed their celebration through song, instrumental music, and dance performances. The musical memorial included group / choir singing performances of patriotic songs and folk songs and group dance performances set to patriotic and folk music from across India. Gajendra Phogat – Haryana Folk Singer and Bollywood Pop Singer – regaled the audience with his medley of popular patriotic songs, folk songs and film songs. The Musical Memorial included “THE THINKERS’ FORUM CHARCHA” consisting of a live on-stage interaction moderated by Aubrey Aloysius with Anil Shastri and Sunil Shastri, sons of Lal Bahadur Shastri, delving into the noble qualities, ideals, ethics, values & principles of our exemplary National Hero, so as to pass them on to inspire our next generation of citizens for positive nation building. Article 51A of the Constitution of India states that “It shall be the duty of every citizen of India to cherish and follow the noble ideals which inspired our national struggle for freedom; to uphold and protect the sovereignty, unity and integrity of India.” Anil Shastri & Sunil Shastri shared memorable anecdotes about their first hand experiences with their great father – as a father, and as a Prime Minister. As his contribution to the Nation Building Project COME INDIA SING, Anil Shastri sang the songs “Aa Chal Ke Tujhe”, “O Nigahe Mastaana” & “Main Hoon Jhoom Jhoom Khumru” that were made popular by Kishore Kumar. The evening was a memorable and enjoyable one that brought fond memories and tears to the eyes of many. The evening ended with the family members of Lal Bahadur Shastri and the entire audience, singing our National Anthem JANA GANA MANA with pride, passion, and precision – in 52 seconds.

On his send off party, Rishan Bhatnagar says, "Lorraine Music Academy is the best music academy in the whole world!" Rishan, a student of the Lorraine Music Academy (Piano, Vocal & Choral Singing) has been selected by the Vienna Boys' Choir to study music and travel & perform with them across the world. He has been offered a Scholarship to continue his school studies and education in Vienna, Austria. We wish you the very best in all your endeavours in life, Rishan! See you soon! Au Revoir! Rishan Bhatnagar's mother, Mrs. Shaheen Bhatnagar says, “Rishan has always loved music, be it singing or just listening. He started learning music in Gurgaon at the Lorraine Music Academy when he was 6 years old. He learnt to play the Piano while also taking vocal and choral singing lessons. He has come a long way over the past 3 years. The Lorraine Music Academy has laid a strong music foundation and understanding that can be benchmarked through the Trinity College London examinations Rishan takes every year. Through participation in the Choir and the regular “Come India Sing” concerts that Lorraine Music Academy hosts in aid of LAMP Trust, Rishan has evolved into a confident onstage performer. Over these past 3 years I have witnessed him grow as an individual in terms of personality, quality of his voice, and the confidence with which he performs on stage. Rishan has a happy go lucky temperament but is guided to be disciplined with whatever commitments he takes on in life.”

Lyrics mainly edited by Meryl & Jeremy, with a few additional lines here and there by Jonavan & Abigail :) Following the tune "Just the way you are" by Bruno Mars. I do not own this song...All copyrights belong to Bruno Mars. Lyrics below... Her voice, her voice Makes the choir sound like they're all croaking Her words, her words Make us sound like we're all babbling She's so wonderful And she brightens all our days Yeah, we know, we know When you're all alone And the weather's so cold And there's no, there's no, Laksa, Bak chor mee or mee soto But every time you miss your home or feel emo, We all say When you're in Mexico There's only one thing you must know That we won't forget you And that will see you through You'll be dearly missed And he'll be crying everyday O he won't forget you And that will see you through Your skills, your skills Owns us in Pictureka & Taboo Your smile Your smile Will help Joshua to lose 10kg You are our dear friend We'll remember you when we pray O we know we know we know that you'll be gone for awhile Now we have 1 less partner to play L4D2 So don't even bother asking will we miss you too You know we would The way you are The way you are Anna's amazing Just you way you are Today we feel quite sad That we won't be seeing you for 6 months Cause we all love you Take care in Mexico

In 1991 Rod Stewart recorded the song for his album Vagabond Heart. The song was produced by Trevor Horn. It is the album's opening track, and was released as its first single. The single reached No. 3 in the UK chart and No. 5 on the US chart. The melody is an adaptation of "Loch Lomond". The meter, stanzas and lyrics are also based on the poem, a nod to Stewart's own Scottish heritage. Eric Rigler played the Great Highland bagpipes heard during Stewart's version. Stewart's version of the song was subsequently used during the closing credits of the 1996 family movie Loch Ness. The single was also played during the bar scenes in the 2000 film The Perfect Storm, scenes which are set several months after Stewart's song was released (October 1991) so the song gives a time-period context. Vagabond Heart is the 16th studio album by the  singer-songwriter Rod Stewart, released in 1991. The album reached No. 10 in the US, and reached No. 2 in the UK. The album featured five singles, among them a cover for Robbie Robertson's song "Broken Arrow" (No. 20 in the US) and Van Morrison's song "Have I Told You Lately",which would become a hit two years later (in a live version) and is Rod Stewart's most recent top five solo hit in the US and the UK. The two biggest hits from the album were "Rhythm of My Heart" (No. 5 in the US) and "The Motown Song" (No. 10 in the US). Rhythm of My Heart" produced by Trevor Horn. Recorded by Steve MacMillan. Mixed by Steve MacMillan and Trevor Horn. Joe Turano, John Batdorf, Randel Crenshaw, Gary Falcone, Roger Freeland, Robert Jason, Arnold Stiefel, Lionel Conway Garry Cook, Antony Arena: backing vocals; Robin Le Mesurier,  Steve Lukather: guitars; Gary Taylor, Kevin Savigar, Richard Cottle: keyboards; squeeze box: Michael McNeil; Kevin Weed: bagpipes; Neil Stubenhaus: bass;  John Robinson: drums, percussion; Gary Maughn: Fairlight programming; Choir arranged and directed by Nick Strimple and Joe Turano; Strings arranged and conducted by Kevin Savigar. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vagabond_Heart https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rhythm_of_My_Heart http://www.rodstewart.com "Copyright Disclaimer Under Section 107 of the Copyright Act 1976, allowance is made for "fair use" for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, and research.
