All the well-known faces of 'The Hunger Games' franchise turned out on the French Riviera on Saturday (May 17) to celebrate the making of the latest installment in the blockbuster series 'Mockingjay Part 1'. Despite having Oscar-winning actress Jennifer Lawrence at the event, the red carpet was a quiet affair which didn't go unnoticed with the actress. "Is this not the quietest red carpet you've ever been on? It's probably because we haven't got a movie so everybody is like 'What? Why are we here? You're famous! I'll take your picture!" Lawrence quipped. However, public interest in the franchise can be measured by the previous two films' box office with both of them each grossing over $400 million worldwide on their theatrical releases. When asked why the franchise should be celebrated, the actress joked, "Because so much money went in to it. I'm kidding! Because they're great movies and we have an amazing audience and a great following and.... Whoops!" 'The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1' sees the feisty Katniss Everdeen (Lawrence) become the poster girl for revolution against the establishment after her actions in the previous installments. And once again, the other characters return like Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson), Gale Hawthorne (Liam Hemsworth) and Finnick Odair (Sam Claflin). Since the first film became a bona fide blockbuster, the cast and crew have worked tirelessly to make the books written by Suzanne Collins come to cinematic life. When asked how the cast endure their strenuous schedules, actor Josh Hutcherson said: "Laughing. We just laugh all day. It's crazy how we finish the movies. I don't understand. It's just noise, craziness, laughing, laughing, and then 'action' and then even a few seconds after that we're still laughing and then 'oh crap we've got to go' and then you turn it on and get into the scene. Honestly we're less focused more of the time and only focused between action and cut and that's it." Lawrence also seems to agree. She was asked how much effort she put into making Katniss come to life, she replied: "I go about everything the same way. I read my lines in the morning and hope I remember them but with Katniss it's the same character but she's constantly evolving and changing and growing so you're growing and changing with her so I never really feel like 'Oh I've got it down' because she's always changing into something else." The film franchise has become a phenomenon - not least because of the success of the books which have sold over 65 million copies in the US alone - since it was launched in 2012. Veteran actor Donald Sutherland who plays President Snow explained "It's an interesting piece of work. There's no sexism in it, there's no racism, so it's way beyond where we are in the United States right now but it's an allegory for our future and we have to do something." Actor Philip Seymour Hoffman died during production of the film in February this year. However, director Francis Lawrence insists that this hasn't damaged the storytelling in any way, saying: "He was almost finished with his work. He was scheduled for 50 days or so and he had shot about 42 or 43 of those days. He had about 8 days left but the meat of his performance was already finished. So there were a couple of scenes that were pretty substantial which we ended up giving to other actors to take over and obviously although no-one is a replacement for Phil, the story still works." Coming into the franchise is Julianne Moore as President Coin. She admitted she became a fan of the series after finding the novel when being stuck for something to read on holiday in Mexico. But, as far as her role in the production goes, she said: "It's fun. I mean, she's described very, very specifically in the book as having this steel grey hair and these steel grey eyes and being strangely colourless and you kind of forget that you're in a dystopian fantasy movie until you see someone like Natalie Dormer with her shaved head and people with all these piercings and all these crazy costumes, Liz Banks with her wig so it's really, really fun to be part of it." Jennifer Lawrence joked with reporters and photographers as she walked the black carpet at an old villa in Antibes, which may explain why she is rarely the subject of negativity in the press. When asked how she felt about the constant appreciation of her in the press, she replied "Well I don't really pay attention to it and it doesn't really matter. I mean, it does. Oh my god, if I start getting bad press, that would suck so I guess it does matter. I don't know. I don't want to pay attention to it or read it. I just need to keep doing my thing." 'The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1' will hit cinemas internationally from mid-November.

Like the facebook page at Subscribe To Hitcreatormusic Subscribe To Producersanddeejays Follow me on twitter at Add me on google+ The Hunger Games is a 2012 American science fiction film directed by Gary Ross, based on the novel of the same name by Suzanne Collins. The film was produced by Nina Jacobson and Jon Kilik, with a screenplay by Ross, Collins, and Billy Ray. It stars Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson, Elizabeth Banks, and Donald Sutherland.[5] The story takes place in a dystopian post-apocalyptic future in the nation of Panem, where 12 boys and 12 girls must participate in the Hunger Games, a televised annual event in which the "tributes" are required to fight to the death until there is one remaining victor. The protagonist, Katniss Everdeen (Lawrence), volunteers to take her younger sister's place in the games. Joined by her district's male tribute Peeta Mellark (Hutcherson), Katniss travels to the Capitol to train for the Hunger Games under the guidance of former victor Haymitch Abernathy (Harrelson). The film was released on March 21, 2012, in France[6] and other countries and internationally on March 23, 2012,[7] in both conventional theaters and digital IMAX theaters.[8] When the film released, it set records for opening day ($67.3 million) and opening weekend for a non-sequel.[9] At the time of its release, the film's opening weekend gross ($152.5 million) was the third-largest of any movie in North America.[10] It is the first film since Avatar to remain in first place at the North American box office for four consecutive weekends.[11] It was released on DVD and Blu-ray on August 18, 2012.[12] The Hunger Games was well received by most critics, who praised its themes and messages, as well as Lawrence's performance as Katniss. Like the novel, the film has attracted criticism for its similarities to other works, such as the Japanese novel Battle Royale and its film adaptation, as well as the Shirley Jackson short story "The Lottery". It is noted, however, that Collins' novel and screenplay possess key differences by drawing on sources of inspiration such as the myth of Theseus, Roman gladiatorial games, reality television, and the Iraq War.[13] The Hunger Games has been the subject of varying interpretations, including allusions to feminist, political, and religious allegory. 'Hunger Games' overtakes 'Harry Potter' as best-selling books on Amazon (Video)

It is the first installment in The Hunger Games film series and was produced by Nina Jacobson and Jon Kilik, with a screenplay by Ross, Collins, and Billy Ray. The film stars Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson, Elizabeth Banks, Lenny Kravitz, Stanley Tucci, and Donald Sutherland. The story takes place in a dystopian post-apocalyptic future in the nation of Panem, where a boy and a girl from each of the nation's 12 districts are chosen annually as "tributes" and forced to compete in The Hunger Games, an elaborate televised fight to the death. Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) volunteers to take her younger sister's place, and with her district's male tribute, Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson), travels to the Capitol to train and compete in the games. Development of The Hunger Games began in March 2009 when Lions Gate Entertainment entered into a co-production agreement with Color Force, which had acquired the rights a few weeks earlier. Collins collaborated with Ray and Ross to write the screenplay. The screenplay expanded the character of Seneca Crane to allow several developments to be shown directly to the audience and Ross added several scenes between Crane and Coriolanus Snow. The main characters were cast between March and May 2011. Principal photography began in May 2011 and ended in September 2011, with filming taking place in North Carolina. The film was released on March 21, 2012, in some European countries and in the US on March 23, 2012, in both conventional theaters and digital IMAX theaters. Japan received it last, on September 28. When the film released, it set records for opening day ($67.3 million) and opening weekend for a non-sequel. At the time of its release, the film's opening weekend gross ($152.5 million) was the third-largest of any movie in North America. It is the first film since Avatar to remain in first place at the North American box office for four consecutive weekends. The film was a massive box-office success by grossing over $694 million worldwide against its budget of $78 million, making it the third-highest-grossing film in the United States and ninth highest-grossing film of 2012. It was released on DVD and Blu-ray Disc on August 18, 2012. With 7,434,058 units sold, the DVD was the best-selling DVD of 2012. A sequel, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, was released on November 22, 2013, in the United States. The Hunger Games received positive reviews from critics, with praise for its themes and messages, as well as Jennifer Lawrence's portrayal of Katniss, though there was criticism of the film's use of shaky cam, especially in the action sequences. Like the novel, the film has been noted for its similarities to other works, including the Japanese novel Battle Royale and its film adaptation, Robert Sheckley's short story "Seventh Victim" and its Italian film adaptation The 10th Victim, and the Shirley Jackson short story "The Lottery", with some criticizing The Hunger Games for being derivative of such works. Collins stated in an interview that her novel and screenplay drew on sources of inspiration such as the myth of Theseus, Roman gladiatorial games, reality television, and the desensitization of viewers to media cov ...
