There are some genuinely good companies out there, but when you do just a little research, you begin to find that they are few and far between. We found a lot of good, bad, ugly, and fascinating things while prodding a little bit. Welcome to our list of Interesting Facts About Popular Brands You Didn’t Know Subscribe to Talltanic 2. Coca Cola This massive soft drink company has provided millions with refreshing, tasty drinks since 1886 but we think there are some little-known facts about the company that you might be interested in. In 1888, following the death of Coca-Cola creator John Pemberton, a man named Asa Griggs Candler took over and, to raise awareness for the drink, handed out coupons offering a free serving of Coke. Of course, this was a great marketing ploy as when people wanted more they were more than willing to pay the five cents it cost for a glass. In the late 1800’s, nobody knew that soda was bad for you and they even gave babies drops of Coca-Cola in hopes of calming them down but probably actually made things worse. Did you know that canned Coke was invented for soldiers overseas? The soldiers they were designed for never actually saw the coke as the materials needed in manufacturing were scarce during World War II, so when the war ended they distributed them to civilians, sticking with the cans because they were so convenient and easy to ship. The best Coke around is more than likely found at McDonald’s. The two companies formed a partnership in 1955 and Coca-Cola ships their products to McDonald’s in stainless steel containers, not the plastic bags that it uses for other restaurants, and it’s said to be the best Coca-Cola available. Not everything Coke classifies as good, though. “Water Wars” have been going on in India for years, where locals believe that Coca-Cola plants in the area are sucking dry the water supply, and some of the population think that the Coke in the area is contaminated by pesticides. They condoned testing on animals and even directly funded laboratories to do so until 2007. They stopped the practice after PETA got involved because of a study where scientists cut open the faces of chimpanzees to see how their nerves reacted while encountering the taste of something sweet. 1. Walmart If you don’t know what Walmart is you’re probably Paris Hilton. But seriously, basically everyone on Earth knows about this giant corporation, and whether you love them or hate them, there are some seriously interesting facts to be found about them out there. In 2012, the company registered roughly $444 billion in sales, and if Walmart were a country, it would be the 26th largest economy in the world. Walmart employs 1.4 million people in the U.S. and more than 2.2 million worldwide. All of its employees in one place would look like the entire population of a city as it employs more people than the total number found living in Houston. If those employees were an army, they’d be the second largest military force in the world. If all of the lands that Walmart owns were laid out side-by-side, it would be about 1.5 times the size of Manhattan, covering 34 square miles. It’s no wonder that approximately 90 percent of all Americans live within 15 miles of a Walmart. The parking lots of the stores alone take up around as much ground as Tampa, Florida. Here’s the dark side of Walmart. They’re known to use foreign labor to be able to pay less for the products they sell in stores, and it’s been noted that most of the overseas labor is done by children. The children working in factories that provide Walmart with the products report being beaten, and work 12 to 14-hour shifts at 6.5 cents an hour, seven days a week. They’ve been sued for wage theft and in 2002 had to pay $151 million to workers claiming to have been robbed of their pay. On a scale of generosity Walmart falls a little short. Bill Gates, the co-founder of Microsoft, gives away around half of his net worth, whereas the entire Walton family has only given away about two percent.

However, just because we grow up, it doesn’t mean that our curiosity about the world around us goes away. If you’re ready to finally get the answers to the random questions that lie abandoned in the back of your brain, then you’ve tuned in to the right video! TIMESTAMPS Why do you get goosebumps? 1:00 Why does your voice sound different on a recording? 1:49 Why do you get a brain freeze from cold drinks or foods? 2:39 Why does the sun darken your skin yet lighten your hair? 3:28 Why does time pass more slowly for a child? 4:08 Why don't your eyeballs get cold when it's freezing out? 5:18 Why do your eyes close when sneeze? 5:41 Why don't city pigeons perch in trees? 6:28 Why is dust white against a black backdrop and black against a white one? 7:08 Why do raccoons wash their food? 7:37 Why do birds fly in V-formations? 8:06 Why do we yawn when we’re tired? 8:48 Why does a brook babble? 9:29 Why do you get motion sickness? 9:55 Why do clock hands move circularly? 10:42 Why is the ring finger used for blood tests? 11:29 Why did pirates wear eye patches? 12:15 Why do goats have rectangular pupils? 12:57 Why do you need to sleep? 13:39 Where does toilet waste go on a plane? 14:20 SUMMARY - Goose bumps form when tiny muscles at the base of hair follicles contract. In the animal kingdom, this helps them warm up faster by standing each hair on end and creating a sort of insulation. - Other people hear the soundwaves of your voice coming only through the air, and a recording also contains just these sounds. Yet the way we hear our own voices is a combination of the regular sounds and the low-frequency sounds conducted by the bones of our skulls. - When something extremely cold touches the roof of your mouth, the nerve center located there tends to overreact. - In both cases, the sun’s UV rays break down melanin, which is the pigment responsible for the color of your hair and skin. The difference is in the fact that hair is made up of dead cells while skin cells are alive. - Kids are only starting to get acquainted with the world around them, and their memory has to collect more data. So their year contains more new and unfamiliar "events" than that of a grown-up. - The pigeons hanging out in urban areas have developed a habit of settling on the rocky landscape where there are no trees. It means they didn’t inherit the tree-perching reflex of their rural or jungle relatives. - Dust is actually gray, but the tiny size of its particles prevents us from seeing its true color. - Dust is actually gray, but the tiny size of its particles prevents us from seeing its true color. - When you sleep, it optimizes the synapses in your brain. What this means is that your memories solidify and the tidbits of information you’ve gotten throughout the day move from your short-term to your long-term memory. 10 DEADLIEST Creatures Of The Amazon | Interesting Facts ► Subscribe: For copyright matters please contact us at: ################################ ► Website: ► Facebook: ► Twitter: ► Google +: ################################ The Amazon rain forest is an immense ecosystem, providing a habitat for creatures as weird and wonderful as the jaguar, the poison dart frog and the Jesus lizard. But it’s home to more than just the animals that prowl, swing, and slither through the trees. In the depths of the Amazon River, the largest river in the world, live creatures so amazing and so terrifying, that they make Jawslook like a nice, relaxing swim in the ocean. Black Caiman A black caiman is basically an alligator on steroids. They can grow up to six meters (20 feet) long, with bigger, heavier skulls than Nile crocodiles, and are the apex predator in the Amazonian waters. That means they are basically the kings of the river—they eat nearly anything they can get their teeth into, including piranhas, monkeys, perch, deer, and anaconda. Oh, and yes, they totally attack humans. In 2010, a biologist named Deise Nishimura was attacked by a caiman while cleaning a fish on her houseboat, and while she managed to fight it off, it tookone of her legs with it. This particular caiman had been living under her houseboat for eight months, evidently waiting for the chance to strike. Green Anaconda Continuing with the theme of gigantic reptiles, the largest snake in the world makes its home in the Amazon: the anaconda. While reticulated pythons are actually longer, green anaconda are far heavier; the females, generally larger than males, can reach 250 kilograms (550 lbs), grow to nine meters (over 29 feet) long and reach 30 centimeters (12 in) in diameter. Diving Bell Spider The diving bell spider is the only known spider in the world that lives entirely underwater. Like other arachnids, it must breathe air, but it provides its own supply by forming a bubble, which it holds by hairs on its legs and abdomen. The spiders must occasionally return to the surface to replenish their air supply, although some gas exchange happens across the surface of their bubbles, so they don't have to come up very often. Giant Catfish Divers work with a model European catfish in the Great Lake at Ostersund in Sweden. Large catfish live in many rivers throughout the world, where they are important scavengers. The largest on record is the Mekong giant catfish, which has reached recorded sizes up to 10.5 feet and 660 pounds. Arapaima Arapaima, also known as “pirarucu” or “paiche,” are gigantic carnivorous fish that live in the Amazon and surrounding lakes. Encased in armored scales, they think nothing of living in piranha-infested waters—and they are pretty effective predators themselves, feeding on fish and the occasional bird. Bull Sharks While technically ocean-dwelling saltwater animals, bull sharks are quite at home in fresh water, too—they have been found as far down the Amazon as Iquitos in Peru, almost 4,000 kilometers (2,500 mi) from the sea. They have special kidneys that can sense the change in salinity of the surrounding water and adapt accordingly. Payara Anything with the name “vampire fish” should automatically be recognized as scary, and payara are no exception. They are absolutely ferocious predators, capable of devouring fish up to half their own body size. Given that they can grow up to 4 feet long, this is no mean feat. Electric Eels Electric eels are actually more closely related to catfish than eels, but you probably wouldn’t want to get close enough to one to find out. They can grow up to 8 feet long and can produce jolts of electricity from specialized cells called electrocytes arranged down their flanks. Pacu One animal certain to be far more terrifying to men than to women, the pacu is a much largerrelative of the piranha, known for its distinctive, human-like teeth. Nile Crocodile A year-old Nile crocodile attempts to snap up a frog in the St. Lucia Estuary in South Africa. Also known as the common crocodile, these large reptiles are distributed across much of Africa. Mata Mata A mata mata is a freshwater turtle that inhabits the Amazon and Orinoco basins in South America. The bizarre turtles are entirely aquatic, although they prefer shallow, stagnant water, where they can easily reach their head out of water to breathe. Giant Freshwater Stingray As National Geographic previously reported, freshwater stingrays are known to inhabit rivers in Southeast Asia and northern Australia, where they can reach enormous proportions, measuring up to 16.5 feet long and up to 1,320 pounds. 10 Heavily Guarded Places On Earth ► Subscribe: For copyright matters please contact us at: There are some places in this big world of ours that have been deemed as precious. Sometimes this is because these places have immense historical value or are considered international treasures. Other places are highly secure because they are the dwelling places of important people or are home to large sums of money. Whatever the exact case, all ten items on this list are guarded around the clock by men and women armed to the teeth with guns and other deadly weapons. Credits: Area 51: 10. The Parksafe Car Park in Derby, England Unlike some of the other entries on this list, this secure location is nothing special. Indeed, the Parksafe Car Park is a nondescript parking lot in the small British city of Derby. However, British police officers have a reason to keep so many eyes on this garage on Bold Lane. 9. Svalbard Global Seed Vault There are some things that are more precious than gold. Seeds, for instance. Without seeds, farmers across the world cannot grow food. Without access to food, people go hungry and starve to death. 8. Iranian Gold Reserve Building The theocratic regime in Tehran lords over one of the most secretive governments in the world. Ever since the revolution of 1979, Iran has been an international pariah and the world’s leading state sponsor of terrorism. 7. The Granite Mountain Records Vault The argument could be made that religions have more global power than governments or international organizations like the United Nations, the International Monetary Fund, or the World Bank. Everyone knows that the Roman Catholic Church and the Islamic faith have powerful associations throughout the world, but few know about the global reach of Mormons. 6. The White House Everyone in the world knows that the home of the American president is heavily guarded by members of the U.S. Secret Service. The White House is also encircled by a high iron fence, is guarded 24/7 by armed guard posts, and contains bullet-resistant windows. 5. The Federal Reserve Bank The reason why the U.S. Federal Reserve bank in New York City is so guarded is obvious: this organization provides the money and gold resources that are used by so many governments throughout the world. 4. The Vatican’s Secret Archives The Roman Catholic Church is a global institution that can trace its origins all the way back to the first pope, Saint Peter, in AD 30. After Christianity became the official religion of the Roman Empire in A.D. 379 during the reign of Emperor Theodosis I, the Vatican has been centered in Rome. 3. Fort Knox Americans know that Fort Knox is synonymous with complete security. For the most part, this U.S. Army facility in rural Kentucky serves as a basic military installation. Thousands of Army recruits receive basic training here. 2. The Korean Demilitarized Zone The Korean War began in 1950 and has not ended since. Although open fighting stopped in 1953, the governments of China, North Korea, South Korea, and the United States are still technically at war with one another. And given the rouge behavior of North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un, this volatile situation is not going to change any time soon. 1. Area 51 For decades, a highly secretive facility in the Nevada desert has been the most heavily guarded place on Earth. Area 51 is actually a part of the Edwards Air Force Base in Lincoln County, Nevada. Area 51 is classified as a restricted area and a special use airspace. Area 51 entered the world’s imagination in 1947.

Top 10 Amazing Underwater Discoveries | Interesting Facts ► Subscribe: For copyright matters please contact us at: ################################ ► Website: ► Facebook: ► Twitter: ► Google +: ################################ The ocean covers 71% of the Earth’s surface and contains 97% of the planet’s water, yet more than 95% of the underwater world remains unexplored. From past underwater findings we know the oceans are a vast reservoir of treasures and secrets. Underwater explorers have discovered lost kingdoms, fathomless canyons and mysterious objects. The Lost City of Heracleion Founded sometime in the 12th century BCE, Heracleion once served as the gateway to Egypt and was especially important in the waning days of the Pharaohs, which is why it is also known as the Lost Kingdom of Cleopatra. Silfra Rift Silfra is a freshwater fissure that divides the North American and Eurasian plates. Nothing interesting here, right? Well, Silfra is important for two reasons: The crack, fissure or rift is separating at a rate of 2 cm. a year, meaning that North America and the European continent are going in separate directions. The City of Pavlopetri Off the coast of the Greek Peloponnese lies an ancient city, perhaps the oldest city in the world, submerged under the blue Mediterranean mantle. The Baltic Sea Anomally In what can only be called the most bizarre discovery ever, Swedish divers came across a circular rock-like formation on the Baltic floor measuring 60 meters in diameter, 3 to 4 meters thick and standing on an 8-meter tall pillar. Underwater Circles at The Botton of The Pacific Ocean Japanese photographer and scuba diver Yoji Ookata stumbled upon rippling geometric sand patterns nearly six feet in diameter at almost 80 feet below sea level when he was diving in southern Japan. Loki's Castle Teeming with Life Lying between Greenland and Norway, Loki’s Castle is a field of five active hydrothermal vents discovered in 2008. Besides huge metal deposits in the area, researchers have also discovered 20 new animal species that live off the heat from the vents, which reaches 320º C. Ice Fingers of Death Ice fingers are a rare phenomenon that can occur in both the Arctic and the Antarctic and are also known as brinicles. They’re caused by cold, sinking brine, which is denser than the rest of the surrounding seawater. Lord Krishna's Lost City Legend has it that Lord Krishna himself built the city of Dwarka and made it his home. The city is believed to have been damaged and engulfed by the sea. Lost Continent of Mu Though hotly debated among the scientific community, Kihachiro Aratake’s discovery near Yonaguni in 1987 is as close as we’ll ever come to the Lost Continent of Mu. In case you’re wondering, Mu is supposedly a land much like Atlantis, whose population fled when a natural catastrophe struck the continent and sunk it. Underwater Pyramids in The Azores An amateur yachtsman, Diocleiano Silva, accidentally picked up a large structure on his sonar between the islands of São Miguel and Terceira in the Azores in Portugal. The Great Blue Hole The Great Blue Hole is a large submarine sinkhole off the coast of Belize. This circular hole measures over 984 ft across and 407 ft deep. It was formed when the area was not yet fully covered by water. As the ocean began to rise again, the cave was flooded. The Great Blue Hole is a part of the larger Belize Barrier Reef Reserve System. The Lost Mahabalipuram Pagodas For centuries, the residents of Mahabalipuram, India, talked of seven pagodas so spectacular the gods became jealous and had six of them consumed by the ocean. With only one real pagoda to show on land, historians considered the stories to be legends handed down from past times. The Uluburun Shipwreck Mehmed Çakir, a local sponge diver from Yalikavak, a village near Bodrum in Turkey, couldn’t believe his eyes when he came across the shipwreck during one of his dives. The Mariana Trench The deepest part of the world’s oceans was first discovered in 1875 in the Pacific Ocean to the east of the Mariana Islands. The trench is nearly 11 kilometers long and a depth of 36,201 feet. The Vasa Shipwreck The ill-fated Vasa warship sank on its maiden voyage just a nautical mile from Stockholm in 1628 for unknown reasons. Probably the best-armed warship of the era with 64 bronze canons, which were immediately salvaged after the ship sank. The RMS Titanic Hailed as the largest and most luxurious liner of the era, the “unsinkable” Titanic has become the stuff of legend. Movies, books, newspaper articles and museums have contributed to making this ship immortal, though she sits at the bottom of the ocean at 12400 feet. Thanks for watching, join our channel! Top 10 Plants That Can Kill You | Interesting Facts ► Subscribe: For copyright matters please contact us at: ################################ ► Website: ► Facebook: ► Twitter: ► Google +: ################################ When people think about plants, they often think of the common trees, flowers, and bushes they see every day. Most don't realize the world has tons of crazy foliage growing all over the place, some of which have the ability to kill any living thing that gets too close. Who needs Triffids when we already have some otherworldly plants here on Earth? Hello and today we're talking about Terrifying plants that want to kill you Venus flytrap When exploring the world of creepy plants, people usually first think of the Venus flytrap, and with good reason. Native to North and South Carolina, these bizarre-looking carnivores like to sit and wait for their prey to land or crawl onto their leaves, which are actually toothy, gaping maws. Once the victim is in place, the flytraps clamp their mouths down and begin digesting their feast with enzymes strong enough to dissolve human flesh, according to carnivorous-plant enthusiast Barry Rice. Nepenthes attenboroughii Discovered in 2000, the Nepenthes attenboroughii, or Attenborough's pitcher plant, is a bit more ravenous than other carnivorous plants. While most meat-eating plants resign themselves to insects and arachnids, the pitcher plant craves mice and shrews, according to the BBC. Being a pitcher, the plant collects water during rains. Dendrocnide excelsa Dendrocnide excelsa, or the giant stinging bush, looks like any other plant, and that's where its otherworldliness comes from. It's learned how to camouflage itself so it doesn't stand out. Therein lies its treachery. This innocent-looking Australian plant actually possesses an incredibly painful, poisonous sting, which has been known to kill dogs and horses. Doll's eye The actaea pachypoda, or doll's-eyes, looks like a demon out of some Japanese horror movie, despite the fact it's an all-American plant. While a white flower bearing a single black berry looks and sounds innocent enough, having ten or more of them staring at you from their, on average, two-foot-tall blood-red stalk is enough to give anyone the heebie jeebies. When you add the fact that the plant is poisonous is enough to kill a human, it magnifies the plant's demonic nature. Drosera capensis The drosera capensis, or Cape sundew, is what you get when you cross an octopus with a plant and put its stomach on the outside. Strychnos nux-vomica It should come as no surprise that the strychnine tree is poisonous. However, most may be surprised to learn just how toxic the strychnos nux-vomica is. It actually contains two poisons. Christmas Rose According to legend, the Helleborus niger—or Christmas rose—came into being a very long time ago, after a little girl cried because she had no gift to give during the Nativity.

Here are some of the most interesting facts about money! 10 - Pennies Does anyone actually like pennies? Anyone else ever notice that whenever you use a bunch of pennies, you get a certain look at the cash register?! It seems like the penny with Abraham Lincoln is easily the least popular coin. However, the Fed keeps producing pennies like crazy. Once upon a time, pennies were made of copper and only copper. That hasn't happened in at least 60 years, when pennies started to be made from other metals. In 1943, the US used the copper in pennies to make ammunition. That year, pennies were made of steel, although that didn't last long. Now, pennies are only around 2.5% copper. The other 97,5% is made of zinc. Copper is more expensive, so it makes no sense to use it to make pennies. As it is, each penny costs around one and a half cents to make, which is of course more than what they're worth. Apparently, the government is evaluating the possibility of stopping the production of pennies altogether. About time! What do you guys think about pennies? Let us know in the comment section! And oh yeah, do us a favor and hit that thumbs up button! 9 - High Denomination Do you guys know the highest denomination bill out there? What’s the highest bill you got in your wallet? I’d be willing to bet that you guys don’t have any legal bills worth more than $100 bucks in there! Back in 1945, the government decided that the country needed more cash on the streets, so they issued the largest bill ever: the $10,000 bill. Just imagine having that kind of money in just one bill! Salmon P. Chase, the sixth Chief Justice of the US, is depicted on these $10,000 dollar bills, but almost no one has ever seen it. As of 2009, only 336 of these bills are known to still be around, and most of them are in the hands of historians. Even rarer are the gold certificates issued in 1934. Each was worth $100,000 dollars, but they were exclusively for banks to use. They stopped producing them in the same year, but technically they’re still legal tender, just like the $500, $1,000, $5,000, and $10,000 bills. However, you wouldn’t want to actually spend these bills at face value because collectors will often pay much more than the face value to get their hands on it! 8 - Counterfeit bills Do you guys know what the Secret Service was originally created for? In 1865, during the Civil War, the government decided to create the Secret Service to investigate and put a stop to counterfeiting. By the end of the war, almost half of all U.S. paper currency in circulation was counterfeit! According to the Department of Treasury, there's approximately 1 counterfeit bill for every 10,000 genuine bills. By their calculation, there’s an estimated $70 million dollars in counterfeit bills currently in circulation. However, the actual number could be as high as 200 million dollars, which translates to 1 counterfeit bill for every 4,000 genuine bills. These numbers are based on annual seizure rates, and the actual stock of counterfeit money is uncertain because some counterfeit notes successfully circulate for a few transactions. To be honest, we’re surprised it’s could only be as much as 200 million dollars. That seems low, don’t you guys think?! Anyways who’s counterfeiting this money? Great question. During World War II, Nazi Germany was undoubtedly the most successful producers of high quality counterfeit bills, which included the US dollar. Currently, the country where most of the counterfeit money comes from is Peru. Supposedly these bills are so well made, these counterfeit bills are almost unrecognizable. Of course, the U.S. Federal Reserve is still improving its methods to make U.S. paper money counterfeit-proof.

Watch our "Top AMAZING Facts About The Planet Earth!" video here: Watch our "Shocking and TERRIFYING Natural Disasters!" video here: Watch our "Most TERRIFYING Sea Monsters Ever!" video here: List of surprising and interesting facts about money: 13. Americans and Debt If you have $10 in your pocket and no debts, you are wealthier than 25% of Americans. Last year, Credit Suisse released a report revealing just how poor people are, especially in the United States where debt runs rampant. Mostly, it’s young people who are deep in debt because they graduate from college with massive student loans. And there’s a disturbing trend of buying things people can’t afford just to impress other people. As if this weren't nerve-racking enough: 6 members of the Walton family, who own the Walmart fortune, are wealthier than 30% of Americans today. That means that these 6 people have more money between them than all the money combined of approximately 94.2 million people in the US today. 11. Why Green? In 1861 the federal government began issuing paper money to help finance the American Civil War. These new bills became known as greenbacks because the back side was printed in green ink. It was a way to prevent people with cameras from counterfeiting black and white bills. In 1929 it was made official. Bills would be green! Green pigment was readily available in large quantities and the color was very resistant to chemical and physical changes. People also tend to psychologically identify the color green with the strong and stable credit of the Government. Since then, other colors have been added to US currency to make it more difficult to counterfeit. 10. Only 8% of the world’s currency is actual physical money. Our world is becoming more and more digital by the day. Only 8% of all money around the world is actual physical cash. The rest is digital money that exists only on computers. Money is only a representation of value so it’s easy for money to be nothing but a series of ones and zeroes, used online or transferred via online accounts. How often have you bought something on Amazon and never actually touched the cash you used in the exchange? This digital existence of currency makes up the vast majority of all money around the world today. 8. 94% of bills are contaminated with bacteria. In 2002 researchers at the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio found that 94% of bills they tested were contaminated with bacteria. Most of it benign. However, before you breathe a sigh of relief, they found that 7% harbored dangerous pathogens that could cause pneumonia, strep throat, and skin and other infections. Other experiments have found the fecal bacteria E. Coli. Eww. It should also be noted that the flu virus, which can normally survive outside the human body for a period of only 48 hours, can actually live on a dollar bill for over 10 days. (1 subtitle) Remember that the next time someone sniffling hands you a dollar. 7. Slug Repellent Pennies act as a mild repellant for slugs. For those of you that are facing this problem, apparently copper is toxic to slugs and they actually receive electric shocks from touching copper and zinc. Modern pennies are mostly zinc with a thin copper coating. Experiments involving copper and slugs found that the slugs chose to avoid the copper whenever they could. If the slug really, if it really wanted to cross the copper barrier it would. I'm not sure how scientific this is or what would make a slug really, really want to do something or not, but now you know what to do with all those pennies you find laying around.... 6. Dancing Liberty Bell The blue ribbon woven through the new $100 dollar bill contains 650,000 micro lenses that creates an illusion of a dancing, 3D Liberty Bell appear. This was done to make duplication difficult, verification easier, and to discourage counterfeiters in general. Another safety measure in the new bill was Nano Ink in the blue ribbon. Nano Ink, owned by the same company that supplies the Federal Reserve with the paper to make our currency, was used with the idea that counterfeiters would have a hard time getting it. Unfortunately, anyone can look up the patent for Nano Ink and learn how to make it themselves... a flaw counterfeiter Arthur J. Williams Jr. was happy to point out when asked what he thought about the redesigned bill. 5. Why Coins Have Edges According to the US Mint, There is a reason why coins have edges. When American coins were first made, the quarter, dime, dollar, and half-dollar were made partially from precious metals like silver and gold. A special reeded edge was added to the coins to protect them. Before the new edges, people who needed money would file down the sides of coins to try to collect bits of the precious metal inside.

10 Immortal Animals You Won't Believe Are Real | Interesting Facts ► Subscribe: For copyright matters please contact us at: Believe It Or Not – Surely All These Animals Greatly Outlive You We know the life cycle; an animal is born, grows up, becomes an adult, reproduces, ages, gets old and finally dies. This is a universal truth about animal life on earth. Aging is a natural process for all living beings. In biology, it called senescence. Birth slowly becomes death by way of aging (if not by accident, disease or falling prey) in a natural life process. Therefore, it is hard to believe that some animals are almost immortal. There are a few species of animals in which the process of aging is extremely slow. Their life span is much longer in comparison to that of a human being. This is termed as “negligible senescence”. Here the symptoms of aging are so faint that it seems like they can never die. Tortoise As children, all of us might have heard or read about the tortoise’s immortality. The life span of a tortoise is 150 to 250 years. A tortoise shell contrary to common belief actually has 60 different interconnected bones. Red Sea Urchin Sea urchins usually live in warm waters close to the coral reefs or on the rocky bottom. Their life spans up to 200 years. They never stop growing but don’t get old. Their mouth has five sharp teeth and they can drill a hole in a rock. Sea urchins originated roughly 450 million years ago. Rougheye Rockfish Rougheye rockfish are probably one of the longest living marine fish, living as long as 200 years. “Red Snapper”, which you can sometimes find on restaurant menus, are actually rockfish. They do not lay eggs but give birth to young ones. Rockfish have a bladder that adjusts to their buoyancy as per depth levels inside the sea. Carp Koi Carp Koi have a lifespan of over 200 years. Koi fish represent love and friendship in Japanese culture. As a gift, they are believed to bring good luck; so traditionally they are handed over from one generation to the next in Japanese families. Koi have no stomach, instead, they only have a gut. Bowhead Whale They are believed to live up to 200 years. The Bowhead whale can grow up to a length of 66 ft. and weigh as much as 100 tons. Bowhead whales were massively hunted for their meat and oil. A bowhead whale can blow air up to 20 feet in height and are strong enough to easily break a one-foot thick ice layer. Ocean Quahog World’s oldest ocean quahog was 507 years old before its death in 2006. They are able to live for centuries because of their very slow metabolism. This ocean quahog was named after Chinese dynasty “Ming”. Freshwater Pearl Mussel Freshwater pearl mussels possess negligible senescence. They have a life span of 210–250 years. Freshwater mussel species have the ability to create a pearl. Antarctic Sponge The Antarctic sponge has an extremely slow growth rate because of the very low temperature there; some of the oldest known specimens are as old as 1550 years. Sponges have been inhabiting earth for the last 600 million years. Turritopsis Dohrn jellyfish This jellyfish discovered in 1883 can truly be called immortal because of its unique regenerative powers which came to our knowledge only two decades back. Its cells can transform into different kinds of cells like a muscle cell can change into a sperm cell or even an egg cell or vice versa. Water Bear Water bears, also known as tardigrades or moss piglet have existed for 530 million years. They have some super powers which make them virtually immortal. They can stop all their metabolic activities completely by a process called cryptobiosis. Water bears do not grow by cell division. Their cells just expand to a bigger size.

Look at some interesting facts about the world's most beloved plant (Weed, Marijuana, Pot). Marijuana, also known as weed or pot, refers to the dried leaves, flowers, stems, and seeds from the hemp plant Cannabis sativa, which contains the psychoactive and mind-altering chemical, delta-9-tetra-hydro-cannabinol, or THC, as well as other related compounds. Let's take a fun look at some interesting facts about the world's most beloved plant. Researchers find that 42% of people surveyed in the U.S. have tried marijuana at least once. In contrast, only 20% of people surveyed in the Netherlands, where weed has been legal for 38 years, reported having tried pot; in Asian countries, such as Japan and China, marijuana use is virtually "non-existent," the study finds. Out of the estimated 22 million pounds of marijuana grown each year in the United States, nearly 80% comes from California, Tennessee, Kentucky, Hawaii and Washington. An estimated one-third of America's weed is grown indoors. An indoor grow module accommodating 4 plants sucks as much electricity as 29 refrigerators. In California, indoor marijuana grow modules account for about 9 percent of household electricity use. In Colorado, where the recreational use of marijuana was recently legalized, only 9% of residents are regular pot smokers. Denver has surpassed Amsterdam as the capital of the marijuana world. The city has more than 300 stores, called dispensaries, outnumbering pharmacies, liquor stores, public schools and even Starbucks. In Colorado, recreational pot has a hard time competing with medical marijuana, which has been legal since 2000 and whose tax rate is 78% lower. Estimated pot sales are 55 tons of medical pot and 18.4 tons of recreational pot. The use among teens has not increased with the legalization of recreational weed. Legalizing marijuana federally would generate $8.7 billion in federal and state tax revenue per year. California was the first U.S. State that banned marijuana a century ago. In the U.S., a sentence of life in prison without parole was given for trying to sell $10 of marijuana to an undercover officer. Over 800,000 people are arrested for marijuana in the US each year. Support for weed legalization is rapidly outpacing opposition. A slim majority (52%) of Americans say the drug should be made legal, compared with 45% who want it to be illegal. Opinions have changed drastically since 1969, when Gallup first asked the question and found that just 12% favored legalizing marijuana use. Weed is legal and is not even classified as a drug in North Korea. Smoking up could be a very different experience for men and women, according to a 2014 study in the journal, Drug and Alcohol Dependence. In research on rats, it was discovered that females were more sensitive to cannabis' painkilling qualities, but they were also more likely to develop a tolerance for the drug, which could contribute to negative side effects and dependence on marijuana. Study after study finds that marijuana is less harmful than alcohol and tobacco. The beer and alcohol industries are two of the biggest anti-marijuana advocates. Obviously, marijuana is a serious threat to alcohol sales. Due to its safer nature, marijuana is often suggested as an alternative to alcohol.
