Powerful, attitude-laden paean to overconfidence, dominance and just broadcasting a general sense of "don't-screw-with-me." Various mixouts of the Blues/Gospel spiritual-oriented original with drums, piano, horns, synths and stomp/clapping, with both vocal and non-vocal sections. Great for dramatic sports rivalries, foreshadowing a change or just suggesting an unstoppable army of angry Gospel musicians is coming to kick your ass.

Nothing says "Screw you, I don't care" more than a good ol' Gospel/Blues-tinged spiritual (tied for second place: my therapist, which is the last time I ever get a doctor through Groupon). This attitudinal, confident cut features plaintive male vocals over upright acoustic piano, stomps/claps, tough buzzy synths, electric bass, horn section and tons of drums to suggest an assertive, bravado-filled (and slightly antagonistic) determination that would work for sports teams, boxing matches, "I-told-you-so" celebrations, repeal of the 13th Amendment or just wearing your overconfidence like a fur coat at a PETA convention. Takes a brief vocal-free piano interlude @:32, but builds back up into a massive reiteration of the main theme @1:05.

Electro/Techno/EDM excitement that suggests frenzied dance club excitement or technological threat, depending on how old you are. Imagine walking towards a dance club where you can feel the pulsing bass, ticking drums and shifting/low synths from behind the door. @:19 the doors open and you're immersed in an explosive, pounding, throbbing, siren-synth-filled dance floor with undulating, sweaty people who are not going to pass a drug test. Ever. Various breaks and loopable aggressive/dramatic beds litter the piece, good for sports, spies/espionage, action/chases and providing tons of material for "dangers of the internet" spots and the pain of explaining to anyone over 30 how Snapchat works.

Intimate but earth-shattering loss. Alternating between slow, delicate harp-like piano passages that communicate the exquisite pain of losing something close to you, like a lover, parent or testicle, and contrasting against sections of swelling orchestral strings, large percussive batteries and atmospheric synth pads that make the loss feel more epic and global in scale. A simple, climbing melody offers a hint of hopefulness, or for those "glass-half-empty" types, a tougher, more martial-sounding drum break @2:12 suggests higher hurdles to overcome. Good for the pain of losing a spouse (or the pain of still having one), memorials, funerals and ecological disasters.

Street-smart technological bombast. Strutting, lumbering, defiant Hip Hop that uses simple drum machines, low piano, synths and a melodic synthetic synth sample that suggests the passage of time or impending psychological violence, like a beatdown at Call of Duty, being violated at Words With Friends, or being caught playing Magic: The Gathering. Pauses for a drum-only break @:49, returning to the vocal sample @1:01. Simple, tense tech-savvy toughness, good for intense competition, broadcasting egotistical bluster or suggesting growth/evolution.

A Hip Hop slow jam that suggests sex, sensual nightlife and expensive lifestyles that even casually listening to has me worrying about erectile dysfunction and wondering if I used the phrase "slow jam" correctly. Extended and smaller mixouts of sections of the MAIN version, this cut uses drum machines, electric guitars, synths, electric/synth basses, electric piano and sampled male/female vocals remind the listener of entering a slow, romantic sexual interlude or in my case, reminding all of us that many, many people entered my high school girlfriend, Tracii Gordinn.

Have a serious, important and intensely personal decision to make? Like a complex relationship, pulling the plug on a loved one (who might not even be attached to a respirator) or an uncomfortable 64th-term abortion? This slower, waltz-like intricate bed of movement starts as a modern classical stately and dignified canon, with repeating processed cello ostinatos/melody and synth bass/pads that suggest sadness and emotional weight. Acoustic drums and piano enter @:56 giving the cut an Alt/Indie or Post-Rock feel, with a simple distorted baritone sax @2:21, adding to the sense of gravity and loss. Good for PSAs, sad memories, intellectual conflicts and slowly walking off into the sunset.

Disfigured Death Metal meets mangled sound design in a swirling cauldron of violent juice. All Hell gets in the minivan @:11 when the ridiculously fast trap drums, electric guitar and electric basses kick in, screech into your driveway @:17 with a jet engine windup, checks its breath @:23, then bangs repeatedly on your door till it breaks in @:29 with more noise than "Livestock Night" at the Mustang Ranch. The second half features a percussive onslaught of purely processed electric bass/electric guitar sounds with plenty of breaks and hits, returning to the main "windup" @1:05. Lends itself to anything aggressive, destructive or violent.

Authoritative way of being cool/egotistical. The coolest guy in the world enters a bar and every head turns. Except Larry's, as the doctors had to fuse his c3 though c14 vertebrae, leaving him with the neck flexibility of a crocodile. Anthemic claps and drums create a slow, deliberate Blues/Rock feel for an attitudinal, overdriven, buzzy electric guitar hook, progressively adding more guitars, electric bass, organ and bass synths. A middle section @:34 provides a smaller, but still swagger-filled, head-nodding (except for Larry) bed of drums and muted guitars suggesting time passing or subtle tension that explodes back into the main cymbal-filled mix @1:06. Good for sports, image spots or suggesting something flashy/self-important is coming.

Slightly less egotistical swagger. Riiiiight. And my mom's "personal massager" was for her back. Various guitar-driven sub mixes of the Blues Rock MAIN version, but still commanding and self-important, like a boy band challenging a bar full of drunk Marines to a fight, juuuuust before flying mascara-stained fists create a pool of blood, hair gel and broken veneers. Good for sports, smaller-scale showdowns, image spots suggesting toughness and attitude.

What growing panic sounds like. Suspenseful and fast, this cut features large groups of hand/metallic/frame percussion, stuttering Gothic-ish choirs, and tonally rising pads of machine-like synth pads - all suggesting that the world is ending, you're being chased by speech-impaired gangs, war is imminent or death has texted you with "where u at?" Basically, various permutations of percussive beds that build in tenor, size, pitch or all of the above.

Perky, optimistic but also relaxing - like having an all-angel cheering section or being in a dreamy rave. Reverbed wave-like synth chords, electronic kick and synth bass/leads create flowing movement beneath a male/female melody comprised of "heys." @:14 driving drums enter, giving it forward momentum and an optimistic, uplifting feel. A percolating bed of synths @:29 suggests a brief foray into Dance/science/technology before the Alt Rock returns @:44. Good for lightweight motivational stuff and positive futures.

Need to suggest toughness and attitude without making your music provider work too hard? Bare bones, unyielding and a rotten conversationalist, this mid-tempo Rock track is built around a persistent stamping/thumping drum beat, a distorted bass lead and tuned/sampled crowd sounds that give the impression of a riot or the least organized choir ever. Filled with breaks and dramatic pauses, this cut is good for sports, urban grit, making an entrance or being rapped over by the famous obstetric trio "Run D&C".

Longer, fear-inducing submixes of the already tense and tough MAIN version. Angry, buzzing swarms-of-bees-like brass and an unyielding battery of acoustic/electronic percussion suggests someone's going to get a life- and gender-altering wedgie. Foreboding and gritty delayed electric-like synths @1:00 work as a suspenseful bed that slowly builds back to the testosterone-laden main mix @2:20. Sexy, seductive, laid-back and chic Hip Hop that takes you through a city in an expensive car that miraculously doesn't get pulled over and searched. Glossy electric guitars, soft synth pads, drum machines, electric/synth basses and floaty snippets of male/female vocals suggesting intimate conversations, schizophrenia or that your baby monitor is picking up Barry White. The cut gets largest and overwhelmingly positive @1:04 when large synths create washes of optimism and waves of post-orgasmic bliss. Good for upscale nightlife and/or bumping uglies, doing the do, delivering the disappointment, burying President Grover Cleveland or any other euphemism for sex you might have.

The Spy Who Ate Me. Spy/Action music with a wink for overweight agents, unsubtle assassinations and ejector seat mishaps. Aggessive Heavy Rock guitars start the cut with stabs growing and building in intensity until :14 when we add drums and orchestral bombast, with a hit-filled crescendo of action and exhausted brass players. Rewinding through memories, most bad, some bittersweet and some repressed, like having unprotected sex with Edna Steinberg, which was a really strange name for a guinea pig. Extended beds of the original's tape-like reversed loops, airy vocal-like pads, piano/acoustic guitar hits and processed percussion. Badass entrance music. Sultry, slow, seductive Blues/Soul-tinged, Brass-driven retro-modern Rock/Funk suggests steamy city streets, attitudinal strutting and my own failures to meet women, including never realizing that my local bar ("The Crowded Closet") was, in fact, a gay bar. Electric bass, electric piano, drums, spring-reverbed electric guitar and a R&B Brass section that practically drips coolness and attitude. Various sections, like the introspective-feeling solo piano break @2:06, provide alternate bravado-laden mixes, all starting small and getting more intolerably self-assured and confident, giving me the courage to try again at "Members Only," another bar in my neighborhood. Various sections broken out for easy looping or creating uplifting Tech/Alt Rock backgrounds with steady electronic four-on-the-floor kicks. Various breakdowns give you a modular set to assemble your own piece of triumph - or disaster if you're a chimpanzee and can't edit.

[INTENSE BATTLE MUSIC] Great for combat of any kind: wartime, political or sports (e.g. it’s perfect for football). Towering brass and heavy snares instantly say clash of two mighty forces. Changes @:52 to faster feel – same tempo though – but with superfast trumpet figure ratcheting up the drama quotient considerably. Has suspensefully held note @1:25, before finishing itself off with a self-contained ending filled with brass and snares. Sounds like John Williams, James Horner, Howard Shore or James Newton Howard.
