5 Music libraries or companies that generate most of my tv and film placements. Definitely something producers (composers) & songwriters should look into (if you haven't already). Some of these libraries cost (I mention the ones that do), but most are free to join. It takes some time to reap the benefits (not an overnight cash machine). http://diymusicbiz.com

Music Licensing Tips: The Process of Creating Music For TV & Film ASCAP Affliated Producer, Composer, and Songwriter EVAJMUSIC explains: "Usually when I music supervisor needs music for a TV show or Film they will send you a reference track. It's then your job to capture the overall feel of the record and sound they are looking for and get them back a professional cue before or by their deadline. Being able to meet deadlines is a very important skill and need amongst music supervisors. Also knowing your percentages and understanding how publishing and writer royalties work is very important as well when working with other creators. If you work with another songwriter you need to fill out a split sheet to determine the proper breakdown so when the backend money comes in you both will be properly compensated. Music licensing is the future of the music industry, make sure you start learning the game and get your foot in the door early."
